#1 This above all else: Retire a Fortress

I don't care how it's implemented, I just want to be able to vist a Fortress in Adventure and think "yeah, I had a lasting impact on the world." Perhaps you can only retire your fort after a Baron shows up, or the King? Perhaps gaving a Broker when you retire gives the fort a market, with the sale items dependant on what Dwarves you had working. Perhaps you can un-retire the fortress later, or not. Whatever. Just a "retire fortress" option would be wonderful.
I was just thinking about this.
Abandoning a fortress fells too much like giving up.
As it is you can only play until you get bored and/or the fps become to unreasonable.
It would be wonderful to have a standing fortress to compare your next fortress too.
A great challenge would to have the requirements for the king to join your fort be higher then the fort he is living in.

DF Suggestions / Nobles take demands to manager.

Rather then have nobles sulk because you missed the one line of message that says that they want something and couldn't be asked to look at the noble screen, nobles should take there demands to the manager.

Do vampires count toward total population?

Yeah, it seems to have been tweaked. Pretty useful, actually. Probably the same thing as was mentioned in this thread.

Except none of the dwarfs ever showed up as missing.

Well not carve, engrave.
First I get the immigrants arrive message. But as I said, not all the dwarfs appear at ones, and for any reason I can engrave there name on a slab.
The only diffidence between the slabs for live dwarfs and dead dwarfs is the live ones don't get date of birth/death.
I only noticed myself after my first use of an atom smasher on a dwarfs face.
When I saw the extra names on the engrave slabs list I panicked but I checked the messages and no one met a bridgey death.
Latter on, when the slow immigrants made there way onto the map, there name disappeared from the engrave list.

Immigrants don't appear all at ones for any reason, and for that reason there is an option in the crafts-workshop to carve there names into slabs.
Are my dwarfs just pessimistic?

''Edible Solids'', ''Edible Liquids'', ''Seeds'', and ''Non-Edibles'' would be a good way to split the oversized foods stockpile list.

To make a point - Gems have there own stockpile, but large gems are grouped with finished goods.

A simple suggestion to make a new stockpile for non edible plant and animal byproducts.
Things like lye and extracts should not be mixed with the chopped cat livers and horse cheese.

If a vampire or any other night creature was discoverer, wouldn't they be excommunicated from the civilization?

I think the problem here is that the vampire "action" is not coded as an attack, as to not be posted in the reports.
Keeping something hidden in a game that shows is self as soon as its in known territory is tricky.

Dwarves can work Adamantine because Armok wills it. Adamantine socks for all!
Does Adamantine clothing act as armor?

So I was looking for this troll that apparently causing mischief, when I saw my expedition leader in bed with a vampire.(I was paused)
So I set the bed for removal and set to making a room in a hill to keep my vampire in.
On unpausing  I saw that I was to late to save my expedition leader, and that the vampire had just appoint its self mayor.
So I made the room I was making have all the items needed for a mayor, when it hit me that I was wasting my time and just made a burrow locked the door and filled in the passageway with a wall.
Even after I chose someone else to be mayor, the vampire still thinks its mayor. Its now stuck in the hillside with the furniture I left there waiting for its mandate to be filled.

Back to the subject, In the room with the expedition leader was a Giant War Leopard assigned to the el. It just sat there and did nothing. In fact its still doing nothing, its still my departed el's pet, and its in the room where the el was killed(Which I made into the el' tomb).

What gives? Aren't war animals supposed to protect there owners?

Being able to assign bolts to quivers and to assign multiple quivers to a dwarf would work.
