Hah. Reminds me of our King Charles Spaniel dangling in a growling mass from our Collie's leg XD

He just turned around and looked at this ferocious little thing gnawing away at his leg, then looked back at us like "are you serious?"

Got dismissed from my shitty part time job. Not even a good reason just a single instance of someone complaining about stuff that had nothing to do with me and me getting the blame. Stupid at will employment, work your ass of but make the slightest mistake or perceived mistake and you don't get so much as chance to defend yourself. I was out of there soon anyway now that I have my degree. I just have six weeks of fieldschool training and job applications to send out. Internets been out for awhile now too making it had to do much. I am finally filling for my Canadian passport tomorrow though so its possible I end up working in Canada after all the paperwork is done.
On one hand, sorry to hear you lost the job. On the other hand, you don't have to go to work in the morning! Congratulations! :P
True, and now I'm in Canada and I got to eat dinner with my grandparents and have chocolate ice cream. It's not a huge loss, just annoying and pisses me off. I had like a dozen work days left at max anyway. I can get an actual good job soon. Archeological field tech. Way better then carrying heavy things for low pay.

Fixing it all is very much seeming to me like an uphill battle. So many vested interests and so much apathy. Just looking at it together makes you want to just give up. I think we can fix it eventually though. Assuming we don't blow ourselves up first.

I'm going to start jogging and running again, when this type of mood comes on me. I used to do it all the time but I fell out the habit since I met my wife. And being an addict bugs me ever so slightly, but much more than that is some other personal issues I have, that I'd rather not discuss at this time. I feel like an amoral piece of shit because of them, but I am working on them.

This might help explain it. If not its an informative video none the less.

Mickey D whaling business.
So sailing your space ship to McDonalds to harpoon morbidly obese people and render them into oil?

Nah LordBaal, I'm an American. It's a home defense sidearm. Sorry to hear about your brother. :/

In any case, I'm engaged in a series of four jobs today all involving heavy manual labor and concentration, so my mind has had time to settle. I'm about to do more work, it seems to be helping.
I think that's the best way to overcome this type of state. Get something to do and occupy your time so you don't have time to dwell on stuff. Also I believe getting something or someone to live for is helpful. something that you would miss if you were thinking about doing something drastic to keep you from going over the edge. Also suicide is rather a impulsive thing to keep such things locked away and stuff that takes awhile to get through so you have time to think. As for the drug and alcohol problems I think that is a symptom of the state your in. There is good evidence that such things often go away when the problems feeding them go away. Don't let it make you feel bad you hardly the only person in history to go do it.

Looking up my account balance, the website decided to default to Spanish for some reason.
If you need help translating spanish for tour bank I could help.

And if you also need your account number and password translated into Norwegian, I can help with that!

In other WTF news, The Independent ran a story about two guys being found "tied to a bench and covered in paint", and how the cops were frowning on this kind of vigilantism.

I thought "hehe, okay, this should be entertaining", and then a few lines into the story it nonchalantly adds: "[they] were also kicked and beaten with iron bars after being captured".

The fuck? That's a bit more extreme than tying the guys up for the police to find. It's not that I'm surprised by humanity doing something like that, but I do kinda take issue with how that aspect was handled by the piece's author.

Also, since the article doesn't mention it, the two were apparently in breach of parole after having been released from prison for, among other things, multiple counts of sexual assault on minors. Figured as much, as that tends to be a common agonist for vigilantism.
I'm caught between objecting to the treatment and broader consequences of it and absolutely not feeling sorry for them.

Thing is that artesanal or traditional farming can't really compete with large, industrialized operations but in some special conditions.
They can compete in the high end area. As a society I think it really depends on what the objective is what is better. If your objective is to produce the most product at the least cost for the producer then it does win out. If your objective is to balance sustainability, ethics, externalities, and need then industrialized is not the best setup and neither would be totally small scale farms.

So why the hell are anarcho capitalists a thing? Is so self evidently obviously a terrible idea. Is it just the stupid obsession with the magical 'free market' and capitalism taken to its logical extreme?

Well, it was called an apology tour because he was trying to patch things up after the whole diplomatic downturn during the Bush years. I suppose Norway and the rest of the world was just happy the US patched up relations.

Nah, it was just the hype. Just another reason we should retract the peace prize awardings to their proper handler.

Not as good a reason as them having celebrity hosts at the ceremonies though. That's reason enough for three nobel prize awarder retractions.

No wonder it feels like Obama got it for not doing much noteworthy and that Trump thinks it’s trivially easy to get it. I suppose conservatives are jealous that a conservative President hasn’t gotten one yet.

Theodore Roosevelt did, though
I think Teddy would be called a communist by todays Republicans. Mister trust buster would be the antichrist to all the neoliberals. He was even a conservationist.

I don't get the toilet seat debate because I never use the toilet seat innthe first place. No, not even if I'm sitting down.

>mfw reading that
Perhaps he sits on a chair to poo instead?

The right seems to have a hell of a victim complex.

Maybe, just maybe we are disrespecting them because they keep following awful people doing awful things. The Republicans are not conservatives they are Republicans. Stop following them blindly and make them actually do good. I fucking hate the Republican party. I try so hard to have a nuanced opinion but they just keep throwing the same shit at the wall and I'm fucking done.

Both sidesing is definitely annoying. Yes the Dems are not perfect and have issues. The republicans are however at this point pure cancer. Just standing around talking about how neutral and intelligent they are for not picking a side and condemning everyone is unhelpful. Also people keep believing trump despite proving that basically nothing he says is true. every goddamn time he makes some claim and people cheer him and say how nice it is he is doing something a bit later I turns out he didn't do shit and what happened likely had nothing to do with him. For fucks sake people stop listening to him he is a pathological liar and a moron who has no idea what he is doing. Future people will shake their heads in disbelief.

I'd like to try poutine sometime but I'm not sure if I'll ever travel to Canada.
There's a local chain of vego fast food joints that does a delicious vegan version.
...Great, now I want LoTF.
Heresy, real poutine should give you a heat attack from the sheer amount and density of gravy, cheese, salt and calories and must be obtained from a food truck in sizes measured by thousands of calories. :P

I think people might care a bit to much about commas. Just mark the offending sentence up with a red pen and move on. If they care enough they will fix it. If not it's not the end of the world. You incentivize change you should not force it. That won't be received well.
