Soooo..... Morphballs huh? And you are even going to call it a morphball. Really?

i was surprised to see that too, i hope they dont get sued by Nintendo..... e.e
Unless there's a patent filed I doubt it's possible.

The continued attention given to Russell Brand phony, sophomoric rants on politics continues to baffle and piss me off.

Other Games / SS13 + Die2Nite + FTL = Mush, the new game by Twinoid!
« on: November 06, 2013, 02:48:54 am »
I remember playing Die2Nite with a bunch of people from Bay12 and I saw today that the creators of that game just released a new project along the same lines. This one however trades the Zombie Apocalypse for a Spaceship. You inhabit one of 16 characters and several are traitors for the evil Mush race who have conquered Earth and are trying to destroy your ship of survivors. I haven't gotten that far into it yet of course (these things take time) but it seems to have a bit less glacial a pace, with turns regenerating every 3 hours and having generous movement and action bars. Worth giving a try at least I'd wager! There's also some sense of progression as a character, at least within one round - I don't think anything carries on between completed rounds. http://mush.twinoid.com/

Other Games / Re: Remember the Days when we talked about playing games?

In the first 2 pages right now i can see : Maia, Sublight, Star Citizen, Rimworld, Shepherd, Starbound, STASIS, that are just projects right now. There are many more alphas/betas though.

Maybe it's not so much that the first pages are flooded by kickstarters and such, but it's true that they make up a large portion of the new, seemingly interesting threads. Most of them end up sinking quickly because there is not much to talk about when a game isn't playable... which is why we don't see more of them in the first pages.

It's not so much that these posts shouldn't be in this forum, but as I've said before, they have become so common that I feel like they deserve their own child board, like "Play With Your Buddies".
Of those, at least Maia and RimWorld are playable right now so it doesn't fit the topic of this thread really at all. Star Citizen is supposed to get the multiplayer dogfighting next month too.

When talking about new subforums I think you need to keep in mind: this forum is for Bay12Games and creating new subforums takes away development time from Zach and Tarn to moderate and dilutes discussion. I don't think this forum is quite active enough to require another subforum just for early access type games - heck, something awful doesn't even do that and there are more posters on there at any given time than have /ever/ been on this forum.

Fair warning, you will get pennies for original xbox stuff these days.

I totally agree with this.
When I sold my 360 two years ago (when they were still going strong), I only got $50(USD).
Some day you'll want to play an old Xbox game again, and the extra $20 won't be worth the loss.  :'(

Quote with obvious anti-american sentiment.
This is the most annoying thing I hear about AC3. How is it pandering to Americans? Just because the chose the American revolution doesn't mean they were. But I have to agree that AC3 was the weakest of the series.

Yeah, any game that insults our perfect Lord and Savior, Saint George Washington, is in no way pandering.

Also, I liked AC3. I thought that Haytham Kenway brought back a lot of AC1's "empathy for the Templar stuff".
Last, why do people keep calling them "Templars", even the game does it. It's "The Knights Templar", not "The Knights Templars."
The same reason we don't say 'The Order of Assassins' or 'The United States of America' when we want to say Assassins or America? Seems like a weird thing to get upset a bout to me.

I don't think AC1 is really worth it at this point, the story stuff isn't really that much more interesting and the gameplay is vastly inferior in literally every way.

Really hated Logitechs joysticks, at least on my old Rumblepad 2. They are oddly square-shaped and it makes it so I jump at weird angles. Made for some terrible disasters in Assassins Creed platforming for example, where I'd just jump at a diagonal when I meant to go straight.

(But seriously if you ever need an in-office playtest or uhhh a Butler or something I'm a quick bus ride down from Gastown which is where I assume you guys are near.)

You know what I would like? Some form of context-senstivity for moving around. For instance if I try to walk through a tree, I'd love to be promoted if I want to chop it down. Cuts down on button presses and makes it more comfortable to play. Something UnrealWorld also needs a lot.

Disappointed that the address given when you sign up for mailing list is the Post Office. I was looking forward to creepily stalking everyone at Gaslamp as an unemployed vancouver bum.

black screen problem can be fixed by pressing new in world creation area there will be a map that becomes available then press start
Thanks for that, this needs to be more clear on the screen (or heck, grey out the start button until one has been generated)

I'm not sure how I feel about the combination of medical and research.
Don't think they're combined as jobs, just sorted into categories. I don't think any of that is final anyway - they still haven't confirmed a 'final' job list and even then they are building around moddability/scripting as a core feature.

For anyone following along with the big remake, they just posted a big update. They got a REALLY good UI designer:

and have been making some good progress to making it way more approachable (and enjoyable) to play with:

and things seem to be progressing nicely - animation is in and working so that characters can, you know, actually move like humans (or cyborgs, or monkeys, or terrible aliens, or clowns presumably)

They seem to be slow at updating their homepage but are quite active on Facebook, Twitter, and their own Forums. A new website is forthcoming and looks as gorgeous as their new UI (which makes sense since I think the same guy is designing that too) This is really shaping up to have a lot of potential. Will live you with the oddly relaxing main menu:

Glad to see a release finally. I can open the game but not get in to play. It does loading after setting map variable and then gets to a black screen for me.

Literally no advantage to Tarn to go to Kickstarter. He wants to work on this as his life's work, donations already cover that monthly.
