Yeah, I was just browsing the AUR and found out DF was there. LMAO. Thank God for the AUR. Currently running the close-to-Arch EndeavourOS and appreciate the ease of install from the AUR package.

Spaceslug, if you're here, I salute you.

That said I was looking at the comment there on the AUR. What is an "Arch package" and how does it differ from others?
I'm only just now dipping my feet into Arch with EndeavourOS and wasn't aware Arch even had its own package format.

P.S. Why isn't there also an option for the pretty distro-agnostic flatpak?

I'd have to say it's less about the UI and more about how everyone makes excuses for it and denies that the UI could be more digestible, specifically the military screen. Also, all the bugs related to equiping your dorfs.

Otherwise, I'm quite happy with how DF is rolling along.

How would I fix this problem? It was working not too long ago.

The way I see keybinds is.. new players? They're going to think it's buggy as the keybinds don't match the on-screen instructions. Considering this is the "DF Starter Pack", it makes sense to keep it to keybinds the new starters can use.

Of course I am biased in favor of Vanilla DF keybinds. So I will say this would be a non-issue if DF's tutorials would change to reflect any keybind changes like games nowadays. That way any changes to the binds show in the places that SHOW what to press.

Screenshots on Imgur

I find this very arousing.

Holy crap is that cool!
Hehe.. yeah, would be nice if it was a checkbox to tick in the DFHack tab of the DF Starter Pack.
SORTING! OMG! Something adventure mode had needed for ages.

Also, new DF version is expected today. "and this version'll probably see the sun outside its cave tomorrow." That was yesterday. Hoping DFHack will be close behind, yes? :D

Sweet, thanks for the update. :D Might continue 0.34 until 0.40 gets DFHack.

SPEAKING OF DFHACK...
... would you be willing, well.. once this guy's plugin is ready, to include this as an option possibly in the DFHack tab of the launcher?

It's a UI interface plugin for adventure mode that makes adventure mode's inventory screen more intuitive. Quite sexy, too.
Figure it makes sense given this update has updated adventure mode with leaps and bounds.

EDIT: And new DF version expected today.

Guessing forcing a fey mood will still be available since that's confined to your fort.
But since armies marching is handled by the during-playtime history happening around you now... forcing invaders might be hard to do if not impossible.

I really only use the fastdwarf (slow PC), liquids, gatherplants, reveal/unreveal, and vdig commands, really.

so even with all these new stuff, it's best to just stick to the old stock stuff?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Selecting reclaim site
« on: July 25, 2014, 10:10:26 am »
The DF starter pack has different keybinds. If you want the keybinds to match what the game is instructing you to do, you're best going to the launcher for the pack and on the main tab, select "Vanilla DF" for your keybinds and then "Load".

Your controls should match what the game tells you now.

Sweet.

Though I'm guessing the game doesn't show only what you have available in your stocks. (Like culling everything else you don't have seeds for).

It depends on your biome. But I would say potatoes, wild carrots, cassava, and radish, since I think you can brew and eat/cook all of them. Any of the v. 34.11 crops would that were brewable still are, so they are a good choice.
Just my luck I have none of them.  ???

I don't like the fortress entrances. Would be better if they had it not floored off so I can have some nice walled-off farms.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / SO MANY NEW FARM OPTIONS! But a question
« on: July 24, 2014, 11:18:28 am »
DIETARY VARIATION GOOOO!

But my question is... I can imagine there's some drawback.. for instance I don't imagine dorfs will eat an onion. It might just be for making better dishes or something.

So.. what's the best to plant and create food for a fort in a rush to make some food?
