Are you seriously saying this the day .06 came out?
Yes, please get back to work, we want the new LNP for tomorrow  >:(

Or that hand will swiftly pimpslap you.

Thanks a lot for that explanation!
Learning it would be nice, but having a nice explanation to get me started is even nicer. I hardly have the time to delve into stuff like this.

The way to equip weapons is more complicated than it needs to be.

I understand that roguelikes are usually ruthlessly complex, and I enjoy that, but adventure mode's way of equipping stuff just doesn't seem to make sense.

CURRENTLY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO REPLACE THE WEAPON I'M WIELDING WHILE FIGHTING A FORGOTTEN BEAST IN MY OLD FORTRESS!

AAAAAAAAHHHH! D8

About darn time!! I had cut to just its head, upper body, and lower body! FINALLY I managed to get a lucky shot in at his head, slashing his head off.

Should note lead bins don't scatter. At least it didn't in my most recent fort Reclaim. They exactly were as they are when I abandoned. I've heard some people say that lead bins might scatter, but NO WHERE near as far as other things.
However, whether the items inside are retained inside the bins.. I've yet to find out. I was so ticked off that I couldn't walk into my fort despite the drawbridge being down that I ragequited.

Some bug, I think. I will try to reproduce it and submit it to the bugtracker if I can.

Bug #5097 Vanishing text in TrueType is truly one of the most annoying things in the latest couple of versions, in my opinion.  I hope more people vote for that bug, so they at least attempt a fix with the next release.
It is a new bug, but is very annoying: streams and brooks getting contaminated with stagnant water from nearby pools.

Ohgod, these two, too.
Does the bugtracker have a method to "vote" for specific issues like most JIRAs have. Or is it just in this thread?

I'd have to say the lack of armor shops in adventure mode.
I kinda wish it might throw realism to the wind and slowly ramp up with the experience of the player. So you can't just get crazy good armor right away.

Actually, wait.. the good armor would be expensive.. so I guess it balances out.

That was more a reply to NW_Kohaku.
I wasn't sure if the params he'd posted were like he'd posted. Since, well, his reasoning sounds pretty awesome. No giant mountain ranges, especially. That sounds awesome.

Most of that went over my head.

I'm a worldgen parameters newb. I don't really know what numbers count as "high" or "low" for any of the numerous parameters.
I was hoping for something more like a premade param set.

What I'm looking for is something comparable to the stuff in the quickstart guide since I haven't really gotten used to adventure mode yet.

The quickstart guide says to gen worlds like this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The problem I'm encountering is I seem to always get worlds with two distinct land masses. I was hoping for something more like a giant continent. Something where I don't have to swim the English Channel to get to another city.

I'm not too big on modding yet.
There isn't much of a knowledge base for that sort of stuff. Most of the stuff I have found is outdated information that doesn't seem to work with .05.

Abandoned my fort because I was getting bored. Also wanted to go into adventure mode and stuff. Probably gen a new world and make that my new Fortress Mode world. This one is too... predictable.

Goblin bowmen overran one of my crossbowdwarves. :(
Rest in peace, Meng Zatmistem.

I didn't even see them! Think I counted 13 of them.

EDIT: The forgotten beast Genlath has come! A gigantic eyeless pterosaur. It has four long curving horns and it is slavering. Its pink scales are blocky and close-set. Beware its fire.
Firebreathing pterosaur.. sounds awesome.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Odd goblin anatomy: Bug or intended?
« on: March 22, 2012, 09:12:58 pm »
So I was being seiged, my lone elite marksdwarf was dealing out the hurt when I noticed this:

His pancreas is broken.
His kidney is fractured.

Is this intended? Are goblin supposed to have organs as tough as bone? Or is this a small bug? :P

My biggest seige yet.
11 goblin axemen.
6 trolls.
14 goblin swordsmen on Rutherers
About 10 lashers.

I'm going to have to thin out the numbers before I open them up to my cage traps.
