hmm... may be this is Wine options... I have Gentoo linux and Starcraft don't running until I put it into Wine subfolder... I don't "dig" this problem and simply put sym-link into wine folder. all works perfectly.

somebody allready tell... you MUST put dwarf fortress in WINE subfolder: drive_c/Program files/
then open any console, change current dir to the dir of DF and then type "wine dwarfort.exe".
DF running under WINE without problem).

DF Suggestions / permanent farm
« on: September 27, 2007, 12:26:00 am »
What about farms, that don't collapse at winter, and at spring will automatically sets "ready to plant"?

I leave my dwarves for about year without managment, and I forget to create Farm Plot after winter... One quarter of my dwarves starving to death, one quarter(with sheriff) were killed by berserk guardens... Many, many corpses, miasma... destroyed buildings... it is terrible!

no, disabling thieves, siege is bad  :)
may be useful to turn off caravans(who would trade with them?), turn off "cancelling repeating task when missing sources"(like cancelling smelting metal bars, when no ore or coal).
And [where is my dictionary?] "circular queue(order?)" for pruduction(sword, helm, plate mail -> sword, helm.....) may be cool.

"Wolf running" is a termin, that i first meet in "Creatures 3" game.
It means a pack of options that allows to set up triggers(to interrupt/pause game) and speed. In this case i can leave my computer for a long time to see anynithing in future...

quote:
I'd advise that you go to the website of whichever brand of graphics card you have, and download the latest drivers.
...

This video card are NOT supported by manufacturer.
There is no VSync option at this driver  :)
time to interrupt polemic(because there are no non-openGl version to test...).

The main idea of this topic is "wolf runnig" option, and disabling graphic is only one of specific options.

hm.. Now i have Celeron 1000MHz, 128Mb memory and very old Video card (4mb) and my FPS(TEMPERATURE OFF, WEATER OFF) reaches 3 !!   :)) very slow because game use OpenGl engine  :)

Edited: i have watched forums for increasing speed and nothing works...

But "Wolf Running" is mean not only disable graphic engine, it mean Speed and Event Control. In this case i may stay my computer for a long time without risk(with minimal risk) to "crash-test" my fortress   :).

For example i want to test how many years my dwarves can survive. I turn on "Wolf Running" set speed x3 and...   :)

sorry for my english   :).
