Done some searching and can't find any info on this.

I have a minecart system for cleaning up the battlefield after sieges.  And it's working mostly.  But I just noticed a dwarf picking up a bin of ammo where it was dumped at the track stop then carrying it back outside to the ammo pile instead of the stockpile directly below him by 4 z

I was hoping that he would take it to the nearest one, but now I'm confused.  Does stockpile selection ignore other z levels, or is it just random?

It's fixed easy enough by making the track dump a stockpile and adding a take-from link.  But the behavior made me wonder if anyone knew the answer.

Edit: Oh yeah, I was also wondering if there was a setting to make stockpiles not auto-assign bins/barrels.  TIA!

They have a tag called [GOBBLE_VERMIN_CLASS:EDIBLE_GROUND_BUG].
Which is only on ants, beetles, and roachs.  So I'd guess no, you'll be likely be overrun by lungfish.

Peacocks are the Cadillac of egg layers.  Of course, I raise them for meat, leather, and bones and not eggs so much.  And when they overrun your fort, you can declare a cocksplosion. Which is fun to say.

Define explicit invocation.
I type something in the console window, like 'automaterial 1', to turn that feature on.  Instead of it turning itself on at startup.

Nevermind anyway, I've just pulled all the plugins except the few I use.  Problem solved.

It also happens with stone and pretty much anything marked for dumping.  It's refuse because you marked it for dumping in a garbage zone.

I discovered this when I channeled out an outdoor farming room, then tried to dump the stone produced.  Haven't used the dump command since minecarts came out though.  Minecart quantum stockpiles all the time now.

Just starting using r3 and found two plugins that were loading themselves without being asked, automaterial and autosyndrome.

I removed them from /hack to stop that, but I was wondering if there were any other plugins/scripts setup to run without explicit invocation?

I was waiting for someone else to chime in, since I don't have a definitive answer.  But I would forbid all the webs but some near the entrance to the caverns.  It might be trying to path to a web deeper in that is blocked by a tower cap or something.

GCS leave corpses.  I'd check the stocks screen to try and find it.

I just use the two slit method from the wiki.

Took me a few tries and some drowned/trapped dwarfs to get the hang of it.

Recently I changed to only use ramps in my forts and I'm trying to figure out how to pierce the aquifer with ramps.  I'm starting to think it may not be possible.

Well, I'm going to try this to see if I can make legendary furnace operators.  Be right back with some science.

Edit:  And we're back. 

I can reproduce this.  Embarked with silver ore and coal.  Made some chests.  Designated them for melting.  Chest sits in smelter forever getting melted over and over without ever using up the chest or making silver bars. 

However, it does consume coke for every reaction.  Weird, huh?

Off to check the bug list.

Setting the uniform to 'replace clothing' fixes this for me.

Then change it back to 'over clothing' after they pick stuff up, so they don't get naked thoughts.  Or I guess you could assign socks and cloaks and stuff to the uniform, but I'm too lazy for that.
