So apparently we need a flag. As far as I can trace, the Richards in England are primarily Norman, so I'm going to see if their family crests have a motif that appears in a lot of them. I'm going to see if I can get something out of that in a standard flag size and matching our gold colouring.

EDIT: I mean... the 'Rich' family is pretty close in name right? Though I suspect that our noble king wasn't of nobility before the independence war.

rifling/improved cartridges
Could we have a cost estimate on this actually? I mean materials would be the same as now but complexity-wise it could be different. Hard to say since while rifling wasn't done for guns until 4 decades from now, it's not really a matter that it couldn't be done or the technology was cutting edge, the idea just wasn't really come up with.

I guess I could swoop down there and cheeeeeeck... :>
There's really only two interpretations of this. Either it's the truth or he's lying about it for fun(?) and profit(???).

Guns are the obvious choice for improvements. I just don't really know what we could do to them. Shortening the barrel would let them load faster and make them more accurate (in the the shot would fly straighter, but they'd be harder to aim) but there's other problems there so...

What about rifling? It's barely any difference at all to have very simple muzzle-loading rifled bullets, like so (the rifling is only 4 grooves and the bullet is just lead. It would be negligible extra work to go from smoothbore to that), but I don't know if we could modify both the muskets and the ammunition in the same year.

Ninjad: So long as we only have one complex piece of equipment we can stick with the engines as they are and use production to bring down the Mulard's effective costs for now. Maybe we'll bother with that later when we're rolling out more fancy stuff.

I met a guy named Arthur once.  Last name, no joke, was King.
I could have sworn there was a book series called 'Arthur King' but I can't seem to find mention of it on the internet. Weird.

Let's wait on a cost estimate first. Though that post on the main thread kind of implies we're pushing a national effort.

Qu'ran has even less wriggle room for the kind of stuff islamic extremists get up to
Quote from: 5.033
The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement
Quote from: 47.035
And be not slack so as to cry for peace and you have the upper hand, and Allah is with you, and He will not bring your deeds to naught.
Right you are, there isn't much wiggle room there.

Oh, in worse off countries yeah the Christian exstremists are pretty much indistinguishable from the Islamists. Isn't the CAR meant to be pretty deep into a big religious war at the moment?

1060
And sizable portions of Christians in extremely well off countries do too (America, of course, being the sad prime example). Just because there's no one fighting to support doesn't make them any less fundamentalist.
That is true. Christian fundamentalists just aren't as extreme. Unless they're the kkk they're not liable to go and watch the stoning of a gay or an adulterer or whatever other stuff Islamists support.

Spoiler: AM-MulardA (click to show/hide)
So, cost estimate on this please Zan?

1062
You should probably just refrain from it in general though. Some accidental clicking on the wrong thread will probably be inevitable over however many weeks this runs, but I don't think any of us are cheap enough to try and cheat at a game with no stakes.

1063
Here we go. Sizeable proportions of muslims in more well-off countries have extremist viewpoints. Just because they're not out fighting doesn't mean they don't support those who are. It is not a tiny minority problem. I find it hard to see ideological similarities between a group that share a religious ideology and write that off as a coincidence. There's clearly something to do with religion at work here.

1064
I'd still trim down the length a bit, go for a length:beam ratio of 5:1 or so? That seems to be pretty standard for wooden ships.
