I notice this a whole lot in deserts.  Gets irritating, you get ambushed by a harpy or whatever and bash it, then have to walk 'til nightfall before you can travel.

World gen crashed on me in year 47 in the Age of Legends, worked the second time.  Goddamn it's fast now.

I have this to wonder... was the giant wearing any armor at all?  Surely a creature as strong as Lightningclaps would have more to defend himself than his hide alone.

What do you think all those toy drums and puzzleboxes that leave my budding fortress are made of?

Actually, I've encountered lungfish and they were entirely nonthreatening. My dwarves ignored them, and they wandered around the map and coexisted peacefully down in my dwarven cave system.
As for the others, I too have read some nasty things about carp and pike in this version.</STRONG>

It's odd to see them flopping around the map and appearing and disappearing like vermin, but hey -- the cats seem to like them.

Hmmmmm... are the bands layered overtop of each other?  If so, I -might- have an idea of what game it is (Oldish, PC, RPG?) but can't put a finger on the name right now.

Correct, yay!

One more...

On the wall is an engraving of an old human, an oaken cage, a human, demons, a portal, and a town.  The old human is emerging from the cage.  The old human is walking into the portal.  The human is striking down the demons.  The town is burning.

Another to fill up some space.  Not sure if it's been posted before, but...

On the wall is an engraving of a human, a hamster, and a two-handed sword.  The human is embracing the hamster.  The two-handed sword is speaking to the human.

Haven't played it but that sounds like Sly Cooper.

What I had posted earlier...

On the wall is an engraving of a large human, a small human, and a rhinoceros.  The large human is raising the small human.  The small human is screaming.  The rhinoceros is striking down the small human.

Apparently no one has guessed it, so I'll add to it.

On the wall is an engraving of a large human, a small human, and piranhas.  The large human is raising the small human.  The small human is speaking to the large human.  The piranhas are jumping at the small human.

And one more to add:

On the wall is an engraving of a large human, small humans, and a sarcophagus.  The large human is emerging from the sarcophagus.  The large human is shooting and killing the small humans.

Ah, hell with it.

On the wall is an engraving of a large human and a polar bear.  The polar bear is making a plaintive gesture.  The large human is making a threatening gesture.

(NOTE: "Large" doesn't imply giantesque, just a big, angry guy.)

Age of Empires 2, or Age of Mythology, methinks?  I'd say AoE1 as well, but don't recall javelins to exist in that game.

Since nobody guessed it, I'll add a few lines.

On the wall is an engraving of colonial dwarves, a blue Dragoon and a red King. The Dragoon is striking a menacing pose. The King is cringing. The colonial dwarves are rejoicing about newly gained independance.

On the ground is an engraving of a naval battle. A frigate sporting a blue flag is fighting a man-o-war sporting a red flag. The frigate is retreating, the man-o-war is striking a menacing pose.

On the wall is a picture of a raiding party of natives and a colony. The natives are striking a menacing pose. The colony is cringing.</STRONG>

Colonization?
