The goblins have been outcast because it is illegal to ride a "motohog" (whatever the HELL that is) in Goblin City (noise violation)...

If you think about it, human bandits sound like a good idea, but elves? Come on man!!!
Motohog is a pun, or play on the words. (Motor + hedgehog)

I thought it was Motorcycle + Hog (pig). My bad...

Half of those links were necessary to make your point Footkerchief(Dear ArMok, some of these are from 2006);
And honestly, while your are expected to search to see if your idea is already posted, you should not be forced to look up ever interpretation of you idea just to please some eggheads.

More: I get that you just want to help stop ideas from being reposed, but you don't need to post the archive to do that.
One to three of the most relevant and recent threads are enough.

I've realized that my idea is a complete failure. I mean... LOOK at that HUGE list!!! Toady will NEVER get around to implementing it!!! I guess I should also give up on my dreams too, seeing as other people want to do the same things...

On a serious note, I've figured a way to implement this suggestion without beng rediculous:

Have ambushes sometimes bring mounts.

With the way things are going with this thread, it's surpriing that ANYBODY is taking this (somewhat) seriously...

169
Goblin outcasts?  Were these the goblins that wouldn't slit a dwarf mother's throat when ripping the baby out of her arms?  Don't sound too dangerous to me.

Maybe Human or Elf bandits would work.  I'm surprised I haven't had any attack me considering that in Adventurer mode the world is full of them.

Actually, it might make things interesting, like the human civilization gives you tribute or something as a reward for killing one of their bandits, so the neighboring civilization do more than just bring trade goods (or forbid you from chopping wood).

The goblins have been outcast because it is illegal to ride a "motohog" (whatever the HELL that is) in Goblin City (noise violation)...

If you think about it, human bandits sound like a good idea, but elves? Come on man!!!

Wait, what about catacombs?  Like, rather than building a coffin you dig out some holes in a wall with an engraver, that can store 3 bodies?

Catacomb burials should give no negative/positive thoughts, and coffin burials should give slightly better thoughts, and tomb burials high thoughts based on the value of the tomb.

THIS sounds awesome enough for DF!!!

There should be a building called a feeder, you set a pasture from the feeder. Dawrves with the animal care labor enabled take food to the feeder and animals in the pasture eat this, or graze if you dont give them food.(grazeing rate is increaced) to feed the animals ther would be a new crop wich grows quickly in groups of 7 to 12 leaving 3 to 4 seeds, so you dont have to spend forever growing food for cattle.

Problem solved

Wait... You have to grow food for them? Oops...

Well if we were to have air horns, we should also have a handheld horn that a dwarf could use to for the same result.
The idea reminds me of the dragonhorn from Dinotopia that humans use to make announcements over the sounds of the waterfalls of Waterfall city.

It's called a "trumpet". Or whatever it was they called those things back in the day...
No it was called a Dragonhorn.
I didn't know those existed!!!

Did medieval civilization have compressed air?
They did have lungs, so yes.
Good point. I retcon my question to be sincere rather than rhetorical to save face.
They also had pipe organs, so I reckon so!!!
Do pipe organs utilize compressed air, or do they just blow air through the pipes using pumps or something?
If memory serves me correctly, yes. :)

A an extention of the original idea, I think that the player should be able to build specially made air horns for military purposes. It would take a TON of power to weaponize them (Sound CAN KILL YOU, but only at ULTRA HIGH decibel levels.), they would have a limited range, and a limited direction. On the lower end of the weaponizing scale, it can stop small (mainly wood) objects, like bolts. As the power is increased, it can stop heavier objects (like stone). At its maximum, it can KILL anything within vicinity!!!

Imagine for a sec-

You are a proud general of the goblin military. You and your men see an aweome fort and decide that you want to plunder it. You send your troops toward the fortress, but to your horror, an invisible force CRUSHES your soldiers and sends them flying!!! Before you can react fast enough, an uprooted tree IMPALES you. The end.

Think of a weaponized air horn as a controlled nuclear explosion, minus the bright flash (and deadly radiation).

It seems to me like air horns are a more modern thing. Gongs/bells seem reasonable, though.

Seriously? *sigh* Take a look at this, will ya (It's in paragraph 3)?

See? Air horns DID exist back in those days!!! Have a NICE day, good Sir!!!

You can put dead dwarves in Corpse stockpiles. They'll come back as ghosts though.

The IDEA was that it would be EASIER to keep the ghosts from coming back in the first place!!!
