They are untameable, unless you mod them.

Please mind that in the latest version CotG will not use his equipped weapon to administer beatings. IF the victim is sentenced to "beating", it will be always with bare hands. Still lethal if the criminal is caught sleeping. Hammerer, on the other hand, will never beat a sleeping dwarf, but instead take him to a chain, leash him, then go fetch the hammer  (idk what do if it's already equipped though) and deliver a series of blows. So I'd recommend to make your Blind Justice the hammerer, not the CotG - I think that it would turn out safer.
Make him a hammerer and ignore some mandates.

Do you really have all the workshops built? I often forget to build a kiln and a glass furnance.

You can open a list of artifacts using (l) key. Some artifacts have their creators name in their description.

Flies aren't as of a huge problem as these multiplying cockroaches. I'm content with them being the death of my first fortress.

Anyways, about trading. How vital of influence does it have on the game? Because the complexity of it grows a bit tedious.
It can be useful but you can make everything yourself. Usually in my older forts I only trade with elves when they have some awesome animals to sell.

Just so I'd have an idea of what would be expected of me:
Should I use an already existing DF plot, like Boatmurdered, or create my own?
Only thing I will tell you is to make it dwarfy.

You probably had a bunch of children who had similar birth days grow up almost simultaneously and allowing more babies to be made. If you play this fort for 12 years you will get another baby spam season but getting so many children in so short time span is rare.
Unless you have a "accident" killing most of your child population.

To be fair, the combat report you have provided begins with the miner attacking the Kea. A very serious, life-threatening assault. What's a Kea supposed to do?

That sounds even more terrifying then regular martial trances.

If you're having trouble getting some armour together, you can always just make your way back to an abandoned fortress of yours in which you have conveniently left some dwarf size armour lying around. Who knows, there might also be a little room for your Dwarf to sleep in, an endless supply of booze and food and candy weapons..?
Or add [BUILDS_OUTDOOR_FORTIFICATIONS] to dwarves in entity_default and go to a dwarven fort for steel armor.
For me adding this tag for all civs is a must if I play adventure mode.

Not danger room related but I want to know what the movement/attack speed split exactly means.
Does it mean that dabbling armor user in steel armor will move slowly but have a slightly slowed down or even normal attack speed.

The new blocking means that I wont be able to destroy sieges with just one legendary+5 everything military dorf.

I have done some forts where no brige to seal the fort and no trap rules were implemented. And I don't use danger rooms.
And I allways try to use smallest number of traps I can.

Reminds me is it possible for a kidnapped baby dwarf in your fortress to come back to your fortress as a soldier invading you after a long period of time?.. I need to test this out now
Probably in the next version.
