General Discussion / Re: Order of the Stick: 939 Donation Drive

Sounds needlessly risky. As Tarquin's friendship with Malack demonstrated, Evil doesn't mean pointlessly malicious to your close friends.

Sure there's risk involved, but so far Durkon has shown to be the same dwarf, just undead and with a new thirst. Doesn't seem like he would turn on his teammates willingly (unless he misses a few feedings)

Durkon was a thrall or mind controlled vampire when he fed on Belkar, and in his right mind (as long as he feeds often) he should be safe to have around, yeah?

Now I'm probably missing something obvious here, but why is Belkar so against Durkon now? Can;t stand the thought of another token evil teammate?

And has a great pun at the end.

I requested a turn a while ago, and was also dorf'd. Put me down for a turn  :)

Just have to start from here I guess, and when Crossroads is back (or has time to edit) we can just link to the first post. Who is next in line after Orky and Reudh? I don't remember, and I think the FP doesn't have a list of people past the Original 7 either. I know I was one of the ones who requested a turn, but I'm not sure who else did.

Finally home after getting stuck at work due to this winter storm.

At least I work in the restaurant of a hotel, and the management puts us up in a room, free of charge for the night if we stay due to weather conditions.

Never give up, never surrender.

Almost losing a fort and rebuilding feels so good.

Hail to the king, baby.

My happy is Verizon having a new thing where you can upgrade your phone a year early, and pay the phone off monthly. 60$ today and 25 a month for a brand new phone, when my old one was acting like crap and had battery issues.

Awesome. Love the way this is written up, couldn't help but laugh a bit.

interesting to see a bunch of cripples in fort mode destroying sieges rather than just an adventurer doing the same.

What started the spiral?

I was Coinstar training some military, and I THINK what happened is one of them dropped a tunic to go pick up a breastplate, and the tunic was flung around and struck a kid in the head, lodging firmly into his brain. Said kid was one of the most popular dwarves in the fort somehow, since I hadn't let friendships develop much, but his death lead to a few dwarves going melancholy, etc etc. A military dwarf managed to fall into the magma reservoir under the trade depot through the grates used for drains in the floodable room. His set of gear is still there. Can't seem to find my picture of the mess the fort was... Corpses and thrown items everywhere!

Quite fun to watch, actually. I keep a save of just after the initial event, just to remind myself of how fun it was.

Upside of a tantrum spiral is that the weak are culled from the strong, and the military will survive, since they jut don't care about anything. Lots more berserkers put down, including a few children. Lost the mayor to a miner who was in the office for psychiatric treatment, and the miner to a speardwarf when he went berserk.

I think the mayor's office needs windows overlooking the courtyard. Or at least a patio.

Now let's hurry up and dump all the bodies into the magma sea, and finish engraving and tastefully placing all those slabs. Hate to see you guys all upset over something.

And since our beekeeper has finally harvested the first bit of honey, we now have mead available. Enjoy!

Hasn't yet, i'm going back and forth between a few forts. Its 2 years after the Great Death and migrants arrived, bringing our population back to 130.

One of my forts recovered from a tantrum spiral that took a 130+ population to 4, one speardwarf who has more dwarf berzerker kills than goblins and a kid who made an artifact and watched his parents die. A mason and engraver were the other ones, who slabbed everyone else.

The best thing was that the survivors enjoyed the tasteful arrangement of a bituminous coal statue of a chicken (artifact) and the legendary dining room made of masterwork obsidian furniture and decorated with all the other artifacts of the fort.

Current fort is in a half-spiral, already had a fell mood when a militarydwarf didnt equip his greaves and turned an O7 into a dwarf bone scepter that sits in the Mayor's room.

Dealing with tantrums and berzerkers because I decided to clear up all the xClothingx and other crap clogging up my FPS and issue copper armor to most civilians. Went from single digits to 100 on most uneventful days. Still slows to a crawl when invaders show up, but oh well.

Lost a legendary hammerdwarf to a thief with an iron dagger. Poor guy got his upper spine nicked and suffocated. Also killed off a necro siege with unarmed, naked militarydwarves, because they decided to drop all their gear and pick it back up when I reorganized their squads.
