Hey, I replied! And with some more Armory list analysis. (Might have messed up something, a lot of text to read through, so please excuse me in that case.)
As usual, public input on the discussed issues is highly requested.

Let's see... M21 (Maurice) accidentally unleashed an extrauniversal alien god, all space magic is now fucked, we are fleeing this universe to parallel ones, Steve has just revealed all the secrets, and M21 (Maurice) is back on the Sword and put on trial. I think that sums it up?..

((Aww, you're no fun, Ao. We've almost resurrected the days of no OOC thread here!

Except maybe the Doctor. He's a fun, chill guy, and as a bonus his trials are very, very quick.  :P

"There was no particular reason to go in so fast. In fact, I was going to perform simple test specifically to ensure the anomaly was in fact not a trap, but was prevented from doing that. The approach was way to hasty in my opinion."

((Your doom!))
((Hey, no fair! They didn't allow anyone else to speak yet! I'm keeping my mouth shut, after all! :P

Also, fun thing, I just understood that Maurice is more and more heavily leaning against the fourth wall as a result of his scientific research. Completely ICly, that is. Hmmm, this might even be referenced in his defense.

Oh, and I would really, really laugh if the main charge against Maurice would be incompetence in rashness of entering the anomaly. Please, do better than that, guys.))

((Here it comes. Well, can there ever be an IC explanation for OOCly deciding not to waste time for the sake of everyone's enjoyment, to avoid the protracted boringness? (Especially after M17?)

This isn't an OOC remark in IC defense (that'd be extremely bad), it's just me remembering things and wondering how other mission commanders would ICly rationalise such OOC decision. I know how Maurice did, but I'll keep it stowed until it's his place to speak. ))

((This is getting ridiculous. Also, becoming a running gag. I wonder how many more times Maurice's trial would be delayed/interrupted.

Oh, and he's kept his helmet on this time. Thank the old baggy suit for being able to smoke without taking the helmet off!))

I wonder what happens when someone takes their dumped attribute down to -3 this way...

@syvarris Well, yes, they were in the genetic pool too. And yes, that person is certainly available for roleplaying... I guess.

It's been bugging me a little since the beginning: the On-Ship thread's misnomer. It was Ronald 9wolfkit's character), not Paris, who accidentally discharged.

I, uh, have reported your finding to Piecewise. Well, uh, he's updated the thread title. Yeah.

Joke or no joke, Maurice could hold everyone in the room ransom, if he wanted. With the AM disabled and space magic being unreliable, he and any dead man switch he might be using can't be countered with 100% certainty. All he needs is an active jammer to stop Steve from interfering Actually, he doesn't even need that, he already has his shock implant removed. Still, an active jammer might still help since it would prevent Steve from interfering or even using Green Storm on others present.

I still don't see what good that would do for him though, unless used in a "Shut up and let me talk!" moment, for RP emphasis. Even then, he'd probably be making things worse for himself, if that is even possible. He's being put on trial by two guys who just lost things that were very important to them (Milno the AM and Miyamoto his plans). Not the best  position to be in.

That's would be Flint's opinion if he was on the Sword right now. Use the Spock argument. You can't a fair trial when the judges are emotionally compromised and are thus liable to not judge fairly but rather get influenced by their emotions.

Yeah. Well, one could argue Maurice is being nice and actually loyal to the ARM. The Socrates argument, so to speak. Too bad they probably might not be rational enough right now to understand that. :)

And I honestly wish that Maurice would get at some point through the temporarily-thickened skull of Milno in that the AM isn't lost yet. She might be soon, she might be as a result of the attempts to save her, but she isn't yet. Oh well.

For those considering making new characters: A new background option is available! Project Wunderkinder has officially come to fruition, by word of Piecewise.

A Hephaestus-born character, raised in conditions strictly aimed at maximizing your mental abilities, honing your mind, creativity and knowledge to utmost degree (physical fitness, practical and social skills might or might not have been ignored less emphasized; but personal training often provided or at least possible). Both "successful" graduates and "rejected" troublemakers options are available, so no real restrictions on stats/skills combination (though graduates, of course, are likely to have buffed Mind stat in particular). Age of up to 22 (age discrepancies explained by earlier stasis'ing).

@Kedly Yeah, I know. I meant that if he was informed somehow, he still could.

@RC And, in response, I must OOCly ask forgiveness and understanding for all the IC friction that may happen during this long-waited trial. :)

From all of you who are participating. Let's enjoy this IC event and keep the two worlds' emotions disconnected, shall we?

Maurice looked down on the giant Avatar, as far as a tiny man can look down on a giant death machine.

You want it this way, Miyamoto? As you wish.
I believed this was a matter between me, Mission 21 and Sir Milno, inofficial and initiated by him on a certain specific reason, but I might have been mistaken.

Saint cut off all outside communication to contain the mind infection. Steve can't shock us right now, and if he still can, won't know to because communication is shut off, and i REEEALLLY don't want a mind roll, I think chansing a knockout is my best bet, but again, I don't know if we can self inflict the shock

Well, just a bit of correction: Steve always can shock you. Those channels are always open, just in case.
(Of course, if the communication is severed physically - e.g. you are in a different universe, dimension or something like that - then he cannot. But that's probably the only case.)

The capability to shock yourself is limited, it has to be specially enabled - I agree, it is kind of strange, so maybe we should look into that. That said, the mission commander generally holds the shock trigger of the team, so whoever is the nominal mission commander could issue a shocking order for other people (if internal communication is available).

As he flew into the hangar, Maurice took a place somewhere in front of both Generals, flipped the visor up and sadly smiled as he filled and lit his smoking pipe, then drew a deep breath, waiting for other mission team members to assemble. Attempting something resembling standing at attention, he straightened up and began to speak.

Well, where should I start?..

In the course of the Mission 21, the alien extrauniversal entity known as the Lurker in the Angles was discovered, and attempted to possess me with overwhelming strength; it was not an immediate event, but a process that took... well, I can't say how long it took, without external senses during the event, but long enough for Morul Migrurkeshin to somehow intercept and interfere with that process, becoming the subject of its attention in return. As a result, he was possessed, and the entity proceeded to ascend, somehow. We have tried to stop it and to destroy the host's body, with limited success; trooper Bartolomew Markov was killed in action, the bomb we were issued gone with him. We retreated, and, having contacted Steve, proceeded to remove and destroy all Origin-linked equipment in our possession, then took a local ship to escape the planet. As we entered the atmosphere, I gave the order to sterilize the planet and destroy all Origin-linked equipment on it. It should be added that Morul himself was in possession of some Origin-linked equipment and possibly-extrauniversal-linked artifacts, as I have brought up to Steve before the communications were cut.

It is uncertain how the Lurker was initially brought through; it is possible that he was waiting for a possible opening or a host to appear. Though there might have been some transgressions, we did nothing, I repeat, nothing against the basic Competence regulations of yours, General Milno, that could have conceivably led to the Lurker's invasion. As of me, immediately prior to the possession attempt I was investigating the geometic center of the anomaly via the Mad Hatter auxilliary tool, as had been done regularly throughout the whole mission. Perhaps that was the opening it needed.

As the mission commander, I take full responsibility for the results of this mission. He tilted his head a little, and looked into the distance. My personal responsibility is that I have let Morul take my place, for I am certain that I stood a chance at containing this entity, even if he didn't. He smiled bitterly and looked down. I came to my senses when it was already too late.

With no smile and a very, very tired look Maurice raised his eyes to meet those of his old hero, later friend, then shifted gaze to meet the unblinking blackness of the Avatar's cam-eyes. Then spoke into the air.

Steve, does the footage in my helmet confirm my statements? I trust it has already been uploaded and processed.
