DF Modding / Easy to Install?

I want to make a mod.
But I want to make it easy to install.
I was wondering, if my mod took like a hundred different types of entries, with changes in every type of file. Could I just make seperate files with the same format of everything needed and it will be parsed correctly? Or does it matter that my changes are added to the default files themselves? As I would like to not do this, so my mod does not conflict with anyone elses mod, except some inescapable changes. But could I in essence drag even those changes to already made civs to seperate files so people could cut and paste it into their own files themselves if they wanted?

For instance, inorganic_, entity_, building_.

Wish I knew what c_varation_default does.

I want to create a future mod. I was wondering if you could create like, a place or a piece of furniture that dwarves can be set on that would regrow limbs or something.

In unrelated news, I was wondering if anything in this game rides other animals at all?

In unrelated news, How do I add an undead tag to a creature? Or a Vampiric tag?
In unrelated news, how do I create a race of man eating elves that roam the country side and eat everything and everyone?

EDIT: I redid my thread to just condense all the questions I had.


1. I'm having trouble finding a size reference sheet. For some stuff.
I want to find the average size of a human, and what short, tall, and average is.
And what giant is.


2. I was wondering if stuff died from old age, and how to control aging of a creature.


3. I was wondering if its possible to tell the game if a weapon is curved or not. Or if only weight and height matters.


4. I was wondering if its possible to creature custom sized clothing, or special clothing for special body parts. (Like tentacle armor)


5. I was wondering if it was possible to actually make a creature have a tongue weapon that works like an organic whip.

I'm reading the guide, but I want to see if I understand this right.
Ho does Dwarf Fortess read these files? Anything placed inside the files with the appropriate commands gets read? Does it scan through each file and read all valid entries by default or does it first scan file names first with a correct format.
Such as "creature_xxxxx" "inorganic_xxxxxxx" Are these entries just for show? could you in fact name each file "ghdyd57dtdhdfg ghdghdhgdg dy7d7f76dft fuf uy 868t 87t yg8g 97 g87g 978 g8yfyfytehdhdhdhdhdhddhdhdh" and the game will only pay attention to the actual entries inside that tell it how to read that file like [OBJECT:xxxxx]

So, no matter the file, [OBJECT:XXXX] is the most important entry in any file correct?
