It was 86 Degrees Fahrenheit yesterday. Today it is 36 Degrees Fahrenheit.

FUCKING SPRING.

Be thankful you're not buried under 15" of snow at least like I am.
Also, fun fact: Today, it was warmer in Bismarck, ND than it was in Little Rock, AR.

See misko's post above considering storms.  These islands would be an insurance nightmare for any sort of structure built atop of them.

I swear Dwarven Children are just magnetized towards mine cart tracks.  They get hit by them when they have absolutely no business near the damn things.  Their parents are on the other side of the fortress!  On the plus side, the hospital dwarves have got plenty of training.

Bought out most of the human caravan.  My dwarves will get the untold delights of import meat & fish for a couple of months.

More importantly, he's already eating them three at a time. He tells me he has seven meals a day when he's not short on food. Motherfucker's a hobbit.

Considering what you've told us about him, this makes more sense than it should.
-Seven Meals? Check.
-Drinks Constantly? Check.
-Parties constantly? Check.
-Stereotypically rural? Check.

Does he have any Old Toby Pipe Weed?

"Gooble gobble, gooble gobble!"

Generally I have at least one mason's workshop on Create Blocks/R plus one or two Crafting Workshops producing Rock crafts on repeat as well.  That plus occassional managerial orders for rocks, cabinets, and doors means most of my stone gets moved pretty quickly.

It gets to the point where I have to quarry out room for stone considering I like building things (tracks, pyramids, towers, whatever...)

NINJA: Yep, since the amount was toned down recently, it used to be pretty bad.

Burrow the happiest dwarves in a walled off section of the fortress if it gets worse.  And hope they don't have any friends who go bonkers.

Speaking of the research data:  How do the smartass remarks made by some of us affect the results? :P

They'll make it further than the Wild, who crawled into the playoffs only to face the buzz-saw that is Chicago.  Still, reaching the playoffs for the first time in 5 years is nice.

And the Report button, for that matter.

Perhaps try a multi-story great hall; the open space meeting area on one Z-level, with chairs ringing it one or two Z-levels above it with ramps leading between the areas where dwarves are supposed to mingle.

Better to be ahead of the game if the Supreme Court has a limited ruling.  Look for Minnesota to vote this month (maybe as soon as next week) on same sex marriage legalization as well.

I knew it was going to snow...but I didn't think it would be this bad.  About 13 inches (that's 33 cm) of the damn stuff, and it was almost 80 degrees just last weekend!

If for something I've spent a lot of money on, it would be my video games & books collection; and even that is pretty tame.  As for just collecting something not all that useful, I'm keeping the old tiny die-cast cars my brothers and I played with and have added a few more (newest is an Ed Carpenter IndyCar I purchased while at Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this year).  There's a not insignificant amount of those.
