From my viewing of MLP:FIM has very negative views on Males in general. All the males shown as far as Season 1 is concern are bullies, or idiots or monsters. Spike himself isn't especially a strong male character, since he girl crazy and treated more like a pet at times or sectary.

Early season episodes mostly.  Big Macintosh, Braeburn, and Shining Armor are three male examples I can think of who are not bullies, idiots, or monsters.

Well My Little Pony Friendship is magic REALLY isn't a beacon of change for how we view the sexes... Given that ANY male that watches that show is given a derogitory term (Bronie) that is also neutral.

How does this have any bearing on the show itself?

Romney wants to let Wind power subsidies expire, but retain Oil and Gas subsides.

These...these people really, honestly believe they can drain the planet dry and get bailed out by Jesus, don't they?

pretty much? yes. The sooner the world gets destroyed, the sooner the rapture happens. So you see, its really all for the best.

That's going to hurt him in Iowa, where wind energy is popular.

*Adds North Carolina to states I refuse to work.  The list now includes all 2008 McCain states, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.

I am an urban planning student myself and just have to facepalm at that.

There were primaries for senate and house races in Georgia and Texas, but other than that, nothing at all interesting.
I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE, THIS ELECTION IS SO BORING! SKIP TO 2016, WE'll DO IT LIVE!

You could look at your own state's elections and see how those are doing.  Of course, with your state being gerrymandered to hell and back the races may not be that exciting.

Unfortunately, nenjin is right.  I personally despise Israel's policies, and sit in a very isolationist part of Minnesota.  Most people here simply believe that interfering one way or the other is none of our business, whether they be liberal or conservative.

Of course, saying that as an elected official might as well be political suicide.

I saw an encouraging number of "Vote No" on the marriage amendment signs in Rochester, MN today.  Of course, signs can't vote and all that; but it was interesting to see practically entire blocks with those signs.  Rochester isn't some hot bed of liberalism either; it used to be one of the most solidly Republican parts of the state...but these were moderate Rs, big on compromise, social liberties, and not averse to tax increases.

As the GOP jumped off the precipice of insanity, the more moderate members of the party have been kicked out (former Gov. Arne Carlson is most notable), southeast Minnesota has become swing territory moving towards Ds.  Hell, I checked, the last time Olmsted County (Rochester's home county) voted Democratic before going for Obama in 2008 was 1964 during LBJ's landslide.

The marriage amendment may help the GOP in some of the more blue collar Democratic areas (Northwest, Northeast), but in areas such as Rochester (and the wealthy suburbs) it will hurt them.

I really, really, really hope this lands successfully.  It should, but I can't help but be nervous about a new landing sequence in a non-earth atmosphere.

The landing of the Mars Rover Curiosity is schedule for 12:31 AM on August 6 my local time; odds are I won't get to see it.

EDIT: Damn 12-hour time; just use 0031.
