I'm running a similar fort, and when a giant wolverine attacked it was bruised so badly that it gave in to pain. Then my villagers kept on stabbing it's head fat until one of them got enough skill to penetrate the skull. Which took about a week.

I just personally made a outdoors poisoning area, since it's not inside they don't clean it up. Or at least they haven't done so yet.

:O Wow so it does work! Luckily my dwarves usually make these low-puncturing stabs that draw a little blood. How do I get a specific spear to the poison pool? And do dwarves try to clean the floor and their weapons?

Gnomes are also affected. They start melting on contact. Not very useful, unless you need to defend your booze stockpile from them. Haven't yet faced anything to test my spears on btw.

:( Too bad. I thought that when the weapon is coated with venom, it is transferred into bloodstream when hit. I mean, I've heard of many people who have done this with bolts... I'll try it anyway, since I just manged to coat a spear with the venom! I'll update how it went.

So, I'm playing a really primitive fort, which was talked about in one of my earlier posts (don't know how may people read it). Anyways, my military is solely armed with wooden training spears, which are actually better than many people think (a good stab to the face kills usually), but still suck pretty much. I embarked with loads of GCS venom barrels, since my civ actually had those, and I had heard that it's possible to apply to weaponry. In addtion to making my warriors more lethal, this would also make my primitive tribe a bit more "realistic", since many real-life tribes use poison to incapacitate their prey. Can someone tell me step by step how to do this? I do know it involves taking the barrel to a depot, while the liquid stays. However, I don't know how I should manage the stockpiles, which phase comes first, or how to prevent my dwarves from potentially cleaning the pool of poison and/or their weapons.

You can also just tell your dwarves to ignore death items or forbid the stuff you don't want them to pick, whenever you see a dead gobbo.

In this case, the kobold only flies for 1-2 tiles and usually bruises some limbs.

So, are kobold ambushers supposed to be propelled away when they get hit by silver bolts? I thought they weren't that lightweight, so can someone tell me if this is a bug?

The thing is, that I'm getting kinda bored with my usual forts that don't seem to die unless I intentionally cause something FUN to happen. These crippling rules would certainly make it truly challenging to survive, which is the aim of this. However, note that without immigrants and proper wealth I won't be seeing many sieges at first. When I do, it'll be like when conquistadores met some natives. Or maybe not, if I go guerrilla.
