DF Modding / Re: Questions about (Dragon)eggs
« on: March 13, 2008, 12:55:00 pm »
Wishful thinking: If you could have eggs plus the functionality to have a creature drop another living creature on death, you could mod in phoenixes: on death, they drop a phoenix egg and ashes.

Custom death messages? "You swing your +steel battle axe+ at the phoenix's head! It flies off in a bloody arc! The phoenix bursts into flames! Borlinkatronk, phoenix, has been reborn. You pick up the phoenix egg. You pick up the ashes."

Because a skeletal Cubone skull skull helmet would be getting just too redundant for its own good.

Just wait for more things to go into the raws. We've got smelter reactions. It's only a matter of time before we can do renamings like this.

I wonder if we'll see "'ere the Jigglypuffs get hungry" on the embark screen. I suppose also, in evil areas, you could run into undead pokémon, which is a very amusing thought to me.</STRONG>

The Gastly engulfs you!
You are paralyzed!
The zombie Butterfree bites you in the head!
It is torn off!
The zombie Butterfree spits out the dwarf head.

Magikarp is the vermin version. DF carp are equivalent to Gyarados.

And this is a bad thing?  :D

The Onix colossus punches the Jigglypuff in the head!
It is smashed into the body, an unrecognizable mass!
The Jigglypuff has been struck down.
The Arbok spits out the Pikachu lower body.
The Mankey vomits.

I think the cartoony Pokémon universe could use the Dwarf Fortress treatment.  :D But then, I'm messed up like that.

Peppermints can get seriously sharp if you suck on them long enough. They could substitute for obsidian in +minty short sword+s.

You bleed strawberry syrup!
Or, depending on color, blueberry syrup, or lime taffy, or lemon drops, or whatever.

You mean "Voilŕ." A viola is a stringed instrument a tad larger than a violin. (I used to play violin in the high school orchestra.)

Instant-healing should only be removed when Toady adds a way to heal that doesn't involve waiting so long that you end up deciding to just mercy kill your character to end his suffering, because falling from a 30 z-level cliff and bursting apart is cooler then laying on a bed while a nurse chews your food for you and spits it into your mouth.</STRONG>

Hey now, retire in hospital and come back later after playing another adventurer or fortress. Problem solved.
