General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O
« on: August 07, 2019, 09:19:47 am »
I managed to swim to the edge of the swim area yesterday, all alone. I got freaked out the second time but baby steps. The corner bouy is probably 150~ feet out from shore, over 30 feet deep water.

Mind you it's a man made lake with nothing more dangerous in it than alligator gar, regular gar, medium sized catfish, and assorted swimming snakes. Maybe some alligator snapping or regular snapping turtles. Bottom line, aside from the snakes, nothing that's going to go out of it's way to attack me. But dat fear of deep water is strong.

I don't have any so no. Not yet. I don't want to gain a lot more muscle mass because there is a weight restriction.

That's fine. If my current gym is any indication, racking your weights after you're finished is the hardest exercise of all. You may not have what it takes yet.

For a brief instance I thought this meant you watched people struggle immensely to rack their weights then I got the joke.

I was doing 300 pushups a day in ten sets of 30, approximately 30 minutes to an hour and a half apart, plus 5 planks, one three minutes the rest 2, about 2 hours apart. I did that 4-5 times a week and ran 1.2 miles 2-4 times. That's all the same but I'm doing 5 more pushups each time for 350 a day.

You have leveled up!
*Hans distributes one additional point to Strength*

I can do 35 pushups with relative ease, 40 with some struggle, and potentially up to ~70 or so in two minutes. Also my body fat is melting away like Termagants under Vulcan Mega Bolter fire. More than 3 minute planks continue to stay out of reach but I got to 315 today before the protests of my body overtook me.

Knowledge get. Yeah, I need a good core more for all the benefits associated with it than the aesthetic. Although I would like my belly to shrink a smidge..

112
Took 26 seconds off my run time last time. Took 16 off that time today. Down from 11:06 to 10:24 and also, with the slight tan I've developed and the upper body muscles getting more defined, I'm... kinda getting sexy. If I can get more done with my core, I'll look good.

Maybe that's the shit hitting the fan. Two opposing Inquisitors show up and the titan starts hacking up Daemonic furballs and Enslavers.

That really sounds like the sort of conspiracy those folks over at the AGP would blunder into and set on fire, actually. I love the idea

So, no shit, there we were, holding half a Fab-Spire hostage with melta bombs and a land truck, in the middle of a nine way standoff, between the Mechanicus, the other Mechanicus, some severely irate Black Templars, a group of intensely paranoid Eldar, a regiment of confused PDF,  a goddamn Warhound titan ran by a spectacularly awesome and delusional Psyker-brain jar, what Twitch insisted were mutant zombie cyborks, some suspiciously spiky "Ultramarines", and us.

That's when there was a feces related fan collision of stupendous proportions.

Please continue the pointless argument about a hypothetical plan in a fictional universe with arbitrary physics and literal space magic.
They're clearly arguing it within the context of 40k itself, obeying the setting's own internal logic with its own established rules. It's like wandering into an argument over the LOTR hobbits flying the ring to mordor on the eagles and then saying the hobbits could've just used a fleet of B-52 Stratofortresses to strategic bomb mordor to the ground, as LOTR is a work of fiction. Everyone is aware of this, they are having fun discussing plans which don't break the verisimilitude of this setting.

I also very much like the idea of a bunch of pissed off psychic brain jars wreaking havoc on the imperium as revenge against some radical inquisitor's plan to kill chaos. Although it does look like not everyone is having fun anymore

I know. I was also interested in their arguments and the "keep it going" but was quite genuine. Perhaps I should have included some [not being snide] tags but hindsight. I WAS trying to maybe bring the discussion back to a snarky simmer instead of the rolling ad hominem it was becoming. I apologize if I did so badly. Sarcasm is my natural state.

Yeah I'm going to stick with 30x10 for this next week then start trying to get into a gym or try some variations. I can already surpass my goal of 50 in 2min. I've been doing 2 or 3 minute elbow planks to help my crunches ability. Just gotta keep running and I'll be making a bunch of 18yo Seaman Recruits look like shit with my superior work ethic.

Also running advice. Rapid shallow breathes or deep breaths? I'm doing deep breaths but I used to kinda get a rhythmic in-in-out shallow breathing that worked. Does it matter?

I can now do 30x10 pushups a day, and max around 55 in 2 minutes. Also I actually have a working pectoral as it turns out. And my arms have... changed.
