General Discussion / Re: AmeriPol thread
« on: April 03, 2019, 01:01:52 pm »
@ earlier joking about closing the thread: There is certainly a possibility that it'll get temporarily closed as a time out measure, but permaclosed and rebooted, hope not.

"Damn the actual truthfulness or validity of the accusation-- WE HAVE OUR MAN!" is how you send innocent people to death row. (In the hundreds.)

That liberals are unwilling to go down that path, (because it is not actually winning, it is losing horribly) is a sign that they actually do have an interest in actually solving societal issues.

It isn't that liberals are uninterested in winning, or incapable of thinking about winning;  It is that there is a different set of "victory conditions."

(This is to say, throwing a temper tantrum and smashing the chess table is not how you actually win at playing chess. The republican mindset says it is, but no. That is not how you can claim to actually win at playing chess.)

Some Liberals at least, certainly the top Democratic leaders, but there are definetly those who want Trump impeached no matter what.

Anyhow, Trump backed out of the border closure threat and then started it up again with a different target. He's also willing to take the economic hit apparently.

If he's so brave or naive/stupid (incidentially, I almost typo'd brave as braive, heh) as to be willing to take the hit, why doesn't he go ahead and do it just so that reality can smack his face at light speed.
Guess we'll start being referred to by the rest of the world as "Behind The Gold-Plated Curtain". Because once the southern border is sealed off, we have to contend with those nefarious moose rustlers and syrup dealers to our north. They're bringing politeness, they're bringing Justin Bieber and Nickelback and Celine Dion. And some, I'm sure, are good people.

I called it. We're gonna start hating Canada and Buddhists next. Get ready to hear "radical Buddhism" a lot.

Thanks guys. It's not easy but it's less difficult than I expected.

Also the Orville is great.

I drank three beers last night and no more. The day before I think it was four. Tonight's goal is two but I'll probably drink three if we're being honest.

Well this got dark in a hurry.

I think it's one step closer to getting them to start working on climate change.

Finally read the Sith Janitor story, and that was pretty great.  I can also totally see how that could cause a ton of butt hurt among the players so I'd never try it myself, but it was still a fun read.

This got me curious and I searched it out. Awesome. Just awesome.

Got into a massive Facebook fight about Islam today.

It ended politely with facts being shared.

263
As a mechanic obviously.

They're semi-common. I predict I could find one here or in Arkansas pretty much whenever. They always had a bit of a Southern/MidWest vibe though. I don't think they're common in most NE or Western states.

And IIRC, you basically just show up with a POS and a driver license and probably an entry free. I suspect helmets and such are mandatory.

The bigger problem would be if anyone still even remembers that fucking bomb Vulkan rigged to it "just in case".
The more I hear about Vulcan the more I like him, even outside Text-To-Speech-Device.  Nice, but also badass even for a demigod.

IT'S ALSO A HAMMER

This came to mind immediately, yes.

General Discussion / Re: Things that made you mildly sad today thread

I woke up to dog shit everywhere. Then I let them out and when they came back in, the little one started scooting on the floor where I cleaned up, because apparently it needed to be ground in, not just on the top.

Not exactly sad but I'm quietly not enjoying it. I have only drank beer the last two days, and only three or less. I also did not start drinking today until 2pm.
Damn, that's good progress.

I backslid a bit. Did three half shots of vodka.

Gotta be honest, gardening isn't exactly the the hobby I expected of Satan's First Commissioner.

I mean, the Forbidden Fruit was grown by someone.

269
That's why we invented plastic tarps. It'll be fine.

*sniffs the air furtively*
Is it... Could it be...?
*pokes his head out the window, sniffs again*
That smell... This weather... Spring is here.

It is time... For Hans to garden.

This year on the To-do list: Radishes! Lil white uns. Parsnips! Heard they good panfried so fuck it, why not. MOAR CUCUMBERS, FOR I AM A CUCUMBER GROWING MAESTRO. Tomatoes! Big red ones instead of my eternal favorite little yellow cherry tomatoes. Cilantro! Cuz I DO know where tacos grow! Hopefully strawberries start coming in. And Lowe's had Kiwi plants, and I know a surprising amount of things about growing kiwis so throw them in the ring too.

Let the gardening begin!
