DF General Discussion / Re: Future of the Fortress

No.
How would that work, exactly, when compared to timers like ThatAussieGuy's Tower of Armok doomsday sacrificial thingy?
I mean, I can already foresee the device activating prematurely when the fort is unretired.

Goddamn, it's the Bystander law all over again.
Next we know people will get arrested for watching action movies under the charge of not helping fictional characters.

I was talking about Adventure Mode, but I'm going to try Masterwork anyways.
Masterwork also make adventurer better.
You can make stuff, although you'll need to be strict enough to resist the urge to randomly spawn wood every time.

15139
Masterwork, if you don't mine fucking elves burning the forest to ashes in Fortress Mode EVERY FUCKING SINGLE TIME

Dwarf Fortress is probably the best unfinished game up to date.

(Space Station 13 is good but the official version is technically finished)

This is not a bug, it's intended.
I know, but when an adventurer visit a retired fort, won't it bork up the timers?

What's not to love about it?
Glitches.
I'm serious, that is like the only thing taking my enjoyment from DF. Sometimes bugs are not hilarious at all and are just plain annoying.

Even as a spiritualist, I doubt "The End of My/Your/Our/Their world" is the same as "The end of planet Earth"
In the first scenario, we die or stopped giving a shit about life.
In the second scenario, all life forms die.

You forget the fact that the last human survivor was killed today by a superflu developed in an alternate universe at the date of today by scientists from the future.

Well, it would be the same tomorrow, in that case. So 21st December still isn't the End of the World.

FAKEEDIT: It's probably Christmas traffic accidents and its variants.

General Discussion / Re: Humans, and eventually a colony on Mars.

No mention of Mars One yet?
Quote
Mars One is a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to establish a human outpost on Mars through the integration of existing, readily available technologies from industry leaders world-wide. Mars One intends to fund this decade-long endeavor by involving the whole world as the audience of an interactive, reality-style televised broadcast of every aspect of this mission, from the astronaut selections and their preparations to the arrival on Mars and their lives on the Red Planet.

They're planning to land four permanent colonists every two years, starting in 2023.

Well I guess that's sooner than all the 2030 vaporproject NASA announced.

Just remember this sobering though:

For 160,000 of us, or thereabouts, yesterday really WAS their last day on earth - for them, the world has ended just a predicted.
Mass suicide or what?

That still won't help. Whatever the cause the issue is that the people who die are also the people who create things others need to live. It's just part of living in a society, each loss weakens the whole and the issues we have go deeper then 'to many people'.

You would have to lose really quite specific demographics to make any sort of headway, and even that headway would not really be much.
Then I guess in that case I'm against killing because I like living and I think it would only be fair to treat others the same.
Unless if they try to kill me I suppose killing would be okay in that case.

(It looks like an open door with eyes peeking out)

I am ABSOLUTELY not a talking hat! It is obvious that I cannot talk! You are imagining things, my dear!
