I could write up an alternate plan giving the Kasgyre fleet comms officers and sending them to Unfinished. There is a small chance we will fight a Wreth fleet at Unfinished. I am still currently leaning towards upgrading Anguis's trim and holding the fleet for the upcoming battle at blackstone.

"That's how you make charcoal. Burn buried wood."

Make sure some recruits throw the stranded injured recruits a rope. Lune has one, he's always well prepared. They can tie one end to the shield's handle as an anchor point.
Make sure they have a potion ready, or at least some bandages and tourniquets.
I know the chances are slim but we're not giving up on them yet.

307
I disagree, because as soon as Topaz is done we want a lance skiff pattern to get some production topaz lances. We need to put comms officers on the new pattern, we can't afford to keep purchasing them manually. That means we need to fix comms officers now unless we want to set ourselves back another turn.

Exact same situation as the last revision phase, exact same priorities, we should use this phase to fix our two failed revisions from last turn.

Edit:
Neither revision is technically essential. We can put a comm officer in a production pattern for the price of two kettleguns. And we can start ramping up topaz production even without any revisions.

Quote from: Experimental Chemical Baths (hydrate levels)
The princess used a bath based on aqua regia to produce her crystal, however this complex mix is not fully understood. By carefully studying it's effects and those of similar formulas, we should be able to find out what causes the delayed crystal growth and how to speed it up.

The most likely cause for the variation in growth time is the uncontrolled amounts of Tetrahydrate or Trihydrate Chloroauric acid in the bath. If we try using both hydrate levels in isolation, and a controlled mix of both, it is likely to stabilize the growth time. It is likely that one hydrate level is responsible for the the long growth time, and the growth time is dependent on the ratio of Trihydrate to Tetrahydrate in the mix.

Quote from: Schola Communicae Negotiations
Go to the Marine Academy. Show them the unreasonable demands that the Aeronaut Academy wanted for expanding their grounds and training teachers, and ask if they have a better offer. Open a bidding war between the Marine and Aeronaut Academy, whoever makes the better offer gets the privilege of training comms officers. Remind them that comms officers are necessary to the war effort, and we all have to make sacrifices to win the war unless they want their precious campuses to become a battleground like Blackstone.

While we're at it it should be trivial to reduce the cost of the signal flasher itself. Simply remove the complicated clockwork and dual trigger system, have the comms officers control the pulse length manually.

309
The insteuments weren't a design result, they were created in a revision. I'm not saying it won't work, it's just less likely to work because of diminishing returns.

310
I fear that could be going too far in a revision. The instruments themselves were a very lucky revision, and trying to make them much more precise to measure baby topaz could run into heavy diminishing returns.

It might be better to try chemical formulas as our plan B.

It might also be better to cheapen comms officers first, then make the lance skiff. Then we can include a comm officer in the skiff pattern.

311
We need to try again for stabilizing topaz growth time. Still just as important as last turn, and revisions tend to be more effective before the project is complete.

We can make a lance skiff pattern. 1 per turn, way better than the current skyskiff B, we keep our Natalies, and we will have topaz versions when we finish widespread topaz. Best way to get production lance cannons out.

Or we could try to cheapen comms officers again. Still just as important as last turn.

Keep playing whack-a-mole for the moment.
<It's pretty slow-moving while underground. We might be able to draw it out if we can get some distance from it.>
"Running away then ambushing it is very good idea! But how do we get off shield without getting caught? Any ideas?"

Nikolai privately comms to Irene <You could try using your magic sword like a sword. Stab it into the ground and channel fire through it. I could tsar it, who knows what would happen then? Very risky but powerful.
I can also use my anti-magic instant death void bolts. Don't want to, it's a very bad war crime. Last resort.>

For now, keep huddling on the shield. Let Irene and the recruits do the fighting, focus on keeping the shield tsared and withstanding the branch thing's willpower attacks. Win the battle of attrition.

"Who has my crossbow? Load another explosive bolt!"
Surely some recruit had the forethought to pick up my untsared crossbow and bring it onto the shield. Maybe they've even reloaded it already.

I dont think mining out undergound areas will sork. This isn't dwarf fortress. Shale is incredibly unstable, needs a lot of support. We can't afford to use our limited wood for that support. Also with how long it takes to make a pit-igloo, it would take forever to mine any significant storage space.

The sooner we finish this the better.

@Draignean

Viperidae should be at Glowcove.
Jupiter and the skyskiff B at Glowcove should have comms officers.

Anguis should have 2 units of copper armour now.

There shouldn't be any copper armour or comms officers in storage.

Edit: Bolyeriidae should be named Bolyeriidae II.
