First adventure: Raji Bearddrank the human peasant spearman.
Raji was a small scrawny illiterate peasant from a small northern village. He wanted adventure.
Raji recruited two companions: a stout crossbowman, and a tall lanky spearman. He looted an iron breastplate and a bronze helmet off a  corpse, as well as a troll horn crown.
He was given a quest: to slay a nearby bandit leader. Raji and his two friends set out on their quest, then all three drowned under a bridge.

I think it would be best if an exclamation mark (!) appeared in the direction the sound comes from, cause writing every sound in the combat log could easily get spammy. Maybe if you (l)ook at the sound, it would give more information.

Sleep in tavern, travel back to fort, buy 3-person chariot/minecart, ride nonstop to the old fort. Let's get this plot moving!

I would quite enjoy multiple factions within the fort.
Gangs would be cool, especially if they had a purpose, like a band of vampire hunters, or a disbanded military squad.
A one-legged dwarf attacking his enemies with a crutch would be funny.

I hope one day riots and gangs fighting each other will replace tantrum spirals.

You're not thinking big enough. Tectonic plates need to shift, volcanoes need to erupt, earth needs to quake, I want my dwarves to be struck down by lightning, blown away by tornadoes, hit by falling asteroids, buried in an avalanche.
Magma waves are a good idea too.
