Gelatin would have to be added to the game first

Nav the Smith's journal

New overseer was chosen, some minor noble named Pan. Just the dwarf we need to repair our relationship with the humans. Bash the elves! But the humans make good allies. Can't go around killing'em. We need that trade to get iron and steel.

I fear Pan is not the one in control. Brewster has gotten too powerful, I will be overseer in a few years, and I sure as hell don't wanna be his puppet. I came to Hammerscar looking for a place where true dwarven honour exists, but this isn't honour. This is savagery! Brewster is hardly more that a bandit chief.

I will forge some special arrows for the Blackdiamond, made of lead more than copper. I will create weak-points in their armour when I repair it. I can weaken the Blackdiamond, it was unwise of Brewster to make an enemy of the blacksmith.

If we kill the 3 raccoons then we will have 5 notable kills. Then we can get an awesome title.

I stole a roc egg from it's nest. The mama roc started chasing me so I lured it to a nearby volcano. While the roc was over the volcano I threw my sword at it, crippling it's wing and making it fall into the volcano. Felt like a badass, but I lost my sword and never got credit for the kill.

Sorry I won't have time to finish this. Does someone else want the final turn? Here's the save. Don't worry about saving the fort.

Save some adventuring for the rest of us!

This is awesome, and a tip for the future: halberds and greatswords are very effective for a grappling adventurer.

I really like this system.
whether the dwarf fails or passes the check should be dependent on its willpower stat (and maybe others as well).
It should also tie into strange moods, with the less sane dwarves more likely to get moods, and failing a mood giving a significant drop in sanity.

I usually imagine dwarves using some sort of bioluminecsence. Maybe dwarves use glow in the dark mushrooms as light sources, and some sort of glow in the dark pet creature as a portable light source.
torches and lamps and bonfires are cool too.

After weeks of living in fear, the forumites of Necrothreat have turned to me for leadership. We will not spend our last days hiding behind our walls starving to death, nor will we be forced to live a miserable life in the caverns. The entire fort will stand together as one, and face the threadnecromancer menace.
One of the children is sent to unseal the caverns, freeing the vampire MastahcheeseIV.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
He is welcomed back into the fort and made a squad captain. Every forumite over the age of 12 joins a squad, and is given whatever equipment is available. Everyone except Mistem the werecapybara, who is locked away in a tiny unreachable cell.
I order the gate opened, PULL THE LEVER! No one pulls the lever. I order the wall deconstructed, but no one is willing. Just then, a group of migrants arrives at the gate. I yell to them "You with the pick, you're the captain, now go kill that necromancer." Tosid, the dwarf with the pick chases the necromancer , but the necromancer puts up a fight and pushes him into a zombie troll. He is torn apart and broken. The rest of the new migrants are killed by the zombie horde also.
(sorry no screenshots)
Rith idenzanos the admin demands an amulet. This is not the time Rith!
It has been 2 weeks since I ordered the gate opened, and the wall deconstructed, but still nothing has happened. This fort is too broken to function, the entire fort has fallen into a melancholy. I order the aquifer mined into, but that doesn't happen either. Fine! We will just wait here until everyone dies of thirst. It is already happening.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Fath the head watches with empty eye sockets. It watches the last of the fort whither away, hopeless and lost. Sometimes, a forumite will get the idea to open the gate, but when they see the head they lose all hope again.
Tun the glassmaker has entered a strange mood, a maccabre mood. Apearantly we don't have what he wants, because she just stands around doing nothing. Dissapointing.
The last child died today. There are 26 of us left. A group of thread zombies arrived today, and they are quickly assimilated to the zombie horde. The bodies are starting to stink.
Melbil the presser goes berserk, but is quickly struck down. (I can't find the report because the reports are flooded with hundreds of zombies fighting themselves).
BFEL bursts into my room and yells "GIANT CAVE SPIDER! It got Mastahcheese and Esther1!" The entire fort is rallied into a mob, and goes to avenge our friends. BFEL is the third and last to die, before the hall is blocked by webs. More of our fort lost.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
That spider will die. somehow.

I always imagined them with beaks shaped like axes. Don't know why.

A baby jabberer would be awesome! It could live in the beard. How big is a baby jabberer?
Search for gems, for the runesmithing.

I would like to have a turn and a dwarf. preferably a smith, and trained with a hammer. Name him Nav.

Did you choose how you look in real life? You work with what you're born with, unless you and can afford a plastic surgeon. It should be possible to choose hairstyles though. And how do you expect to have scars before adventuring?

Hopefully when magic is fully added, there will be a way to change appearances with it. Magical plastic surgery.

I would be honoured, Apiks.
