I'd definitely be prepared to give it a shot.

Coral snorted in disgust. Such goods certainly weren't worth that violence. Someone was liable to get hurt.

Still, it wasn't her place to interfere too much.

Coral wades into the crowd, helping up the person knocked over, before leaving promptly.

(( You don't get absolute choice - I will be providing lists of equipment. However, if you suggest something there will be something similar available, though maybe not what you requested.))

The speaker nods to Bjorn.

"Outside you will find a wide variety of equipment. Your requests included."

-----

Outside is a wide yard, shipping containers hugging the insides of the walls. A pair of buildings encroach into the yard, and through the gap between them you can see a much more cluttered spaaaaaace. This area is almost bare, however, bar a collection of crates in its centre. There are lookout towers - supported externally - at each corner.

Ven is the first to open a crate, and is greeted by the sight of a number of strange devices. They resemble small boxes, with belt clips, and slots of numerous shapes and sizes allowing access. As she investigates, a voice crackles over the speakers.

"These devices are your reloaders. They are designed to be mounted on the belt, and can take most conventional magazines. Within is contained multiple high pressure materials, which allow ammunition to be printed inside. merely attach a magazine and it will be refilled. It is also capable of producing single bullets, where that may be appropriate.
Now, there are a few things to bear in mind. Firstly, these do require regular refilling - whilst there is plenty for a single  mission, they won't last for an extended campaign. We will refill them whenever you return, but if you don't, well...
Secondly, it is worth noting that these contain high pressure explosives. You do not want these to be damaged. Not least because they're very expensive. You may want to know that a member of group 1 attempted to use this property to her benefit. Needless to say, it didn't quite work out.
Regardless, I would like each of you to take one. The other crates contain a variety of weapons, some more conventional than others. Please feel free to search through them."

((I will give a more thorough weapon list tomorrow, cause things have come up that prevent that tonight. However, if you desire anything specific, now is the time to say, and I may add it to the list if I've overlooked it.))

Spoiler: Rule stuff (click to show/hide)

Basic training

As the last of your fellows - at least you assume that’s what they are - are shepherded into the room, your attention is drawn to the official. He looks vaguely familiar, as if you saw him on tv once, but you can’t quite place where from. He glances around the room, nodding at a pair of soldiers to close the doors, then he starts to speak.
“Welcome to the PDP, group three. You are aware of why you are here, so I will cut straight to the start. In the rear of this compound is a training ground. It is covered by cameras, and overlooked by guards. Speakers will allow me to communicate with you. You all have your reasons to remain with us, so trying to escape would be…. wasteful.
Once you are outside, you will see a number of crates containing equipment. Try not to argue over it, there is plenty to go around. Today you will be getting used to its operation. Tomorrow, this practice might save your life.”
He motions to the same pair of guards, who have moved to the other end of the room. They open another pair of doors, which lead out into a walled off area.
   “Are there any questions?”

All of the above?

Coral saw no need to stand around here. There didn't seem to be any commotion. Down the street was another matter.

"I'm going to see what all that fuss is about."

She nods at the vendor.

investigate ceramics vendor.

Ok, so the bomb heists are pretty damn good. The maps are huge and a touch complicated, and whilst it's still distinctly Payday they do have a different feel. It looks like the guard patrol patterns on dockyard are more regular than standard, which makes stealth a little less random (probably - not tried). Forest is really very open, which could make DW interesting.

Coral, meanwhile, had waited outside the shop when Arno entered, though she was as armed as Portia.

The nature of lost control will be related to the test that was being attempted when control was lost - though the results will often be violent.

As for the willpower system, I'll admit I share Cript's concerns, but I haven't got a better alternative at the moment. Balancing will most likely occur in play - changing your sheet shouldn't be necessary, and if it becomes so I will allow it.

I am considering ruling that players can opt for a 'safe' test, where their willpower cap is the highest possible result.
I am also considering making willpower attunement increase automatically with each mission.

Attunement increases will mostly be ~1%, though larger increases will be available, likely from completing missions.

Anyway, hopefully this should start tomorrow. I think I'll have to sum up all the rule changes there :P

Attunement is for each individual stat, though if I refer to it as a single stat I'm probably meaning the highest attunement you have.

Testing willpower works much as any other stat (and has its own attunement), and will have uses outside of simple self-control. The way losing control works is that if a test for a different stat has a result higher than the willpower cap (potential*attunement) the player risks losing control. There's then a test, more difficult the greater the difference, usually of willpower, to see if control is actually lost.

But yeah, as said, willpower may come up in other uses. But losing control can have ill effects even if the character embraces it - charging into a swarm of gunmen in a berserk rage isn't likely to end well, no matter how bloodthirsty the character. Punishment is also possible if things get too out of hand. There are also characters that don't embrace it.

So, playing XCOM Enemy Within for the first time. On Ironman, because it makes the game more enjoyable for me.

Oh god, the beep test. My record was 6, mostly because whilst I didn't get that tired, I'm rather slow.

Though it's worth bearing in mind that there are many different variants, some harder than others. not to mention the completely non-standardised distances :P
