Ah, apologies. these are for the effective stat cap. So Potential x Attunement.

And there is the potential for further traits based on V.high stats, but they haven't been worked out yet.

Shot glasses? See, I just drink from the bottle :P

Congrats, Oz has just outclassed England.

Right, I think I'm going to go with a system of 1 L slot, 1 M slot, and 2 S slots. Each can be downgraded to 2 of the lower tier (so max would be 8 S slots) but not upgraded.

On the note of potentials, there are certain traits that are predefined for certain potential levels - any above that will require further working out, and those that already possess similar traits may receive upgrades.

Spoiler: Traits (click to show/hide)

More specific traits will likely be gained every time a multiple of 20% attunement is reached.

If we have masks, put mine on.

Gasmask nods at Playergamer, before heading quickly to the armoury, and grabbing his assigned weapons.

Hmmm.... tempted to go with SB actually and just say some larger pieces of equipment take up multiple slots. Probably the simplest and most balanced system.

Whilst that would make sense, it would be somewhat awkward to balance, and become rapidly irrelevant to all but the weakest players as attunement increased.

The word weight may be somewhat misleading however, due to the fact it's more a points system to prevent the hauling around of multiple miniguns :P

Oh, they wouldn't both be running simultaneously. But it would mean if anyone dropped out there were replacements at a similar point. I could do training missions at a slower pace, maybe the odd investigation or the like, add some variety. Maybe even add some tactical decisions or covert missions or something. On the other hand, maybe I've just been playing too much XCOM recently. We shall see.

Now, to make the post a touch more interesting

Worth noting that all of this may be subject to change :P

TV license is what funds the BBC - and given the amount of stuff it makes, that's a fair bit.

A TV License is legally required to watch live TV, even on computers, though watching after it's aired is still allowed.

Of course, there are very few ways to check that, so unless they launch a full investigation they can't prove anything - and full investigations are worth more than the license, so they don't do them unless someone's being particularly dodgy.

I'm considering it, given I now have enough players for 2 4-man squads.

You write that well at 2 in the morning? 0.o :P

But yeah, sheet looks fine.

So... this is modern times right? The factions make it sound like it's WW2 era for some reason.
Yeah, it's a short while in the future. Nuclear weaponry was disarmed, and with that barrier gone land grabs started, and things followed on and war broke out. The main agitators, at least to start, were Russia and China, and they allied to oppose any real resistance.
The Axis/Allies parallel is not exact - for example, here Axis refers to the Russia side, whilst Allies includes Germany (or at least the half that's still in their territory.) It's just the terms that are used by people in the West to refer to the sides.

All said, I plan to start this some time this weekend. Would people like a separate IC thread, so that mythology/speculation discussion won't clutter things up?

It does. Our education system has been overhauled about a dozen times in the past couple of decades, and every time it seems like a competition of who in the Ministry can get the most retarded proposals out the door.
Seems reminiscent of current affair in the UK. *cough*Gove*cough*

Calculus does not appear to be as fundamentally ungraspable as people make it out to be. I'm sure it gets harder (tensor calculus and all), but so far so good.
I don't know what level you're at, but at the start calculus is pretty nice. Nice enough that I didn't realise it was actually the thing everyone kept talking about as calculus until a fair while in :P
Awkward integrals are awkward, and multi-dimensional calculus is somewhat confusing, though that's something I've only done very recently, and thus hasn't quite clicked yet.
