DF Gameplay Questions / Population cap?

I set my population cap to 15 but migrants keep coming. I have almost 30 dwarves now. Any idea why?

I also have a few other questions. Would it be possible to mod the game so that it would be possible to get goblin caravans? And would it be possible to make it so that all civilizations can settle wherever they want? I'd like to get caravans originating from haunted areas so that I could get glumprong more easily.

I´ve heard that very rarely, nobles of other races come with the migrant waves. Would killing off nobles until a rare one came by work? If you get two elves of opposite gender this way, would it be possible to breed them? What if you have a female elf noble and chain up a male elf from the trading caravans, could the female elf get pregnant through pollination?

Oh, and there are other shape words. I have one for cube, sphere, and I think Wall.

I wonder if you can use many different shapes? A cube sphere cylinder wall cat would be awesome.

I wonder how I can escape Metaldome 2000. I could try to arc-weld my way right through with repeated ROTHONS, but that seems like it could backfire hilariously.
