General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O
« on: April 13, 2022, 12:52:05 pm »
Yesterday it felt fairly major. When I wasn't sleeping I was shivering or boiling alive. I don't know how to describe it, but my thinking was also impacted. Like my brain was stuffed.

Today I'm running a high temperature, my taste has gone all funky, and I still feel really odd. But it's a huge improvement.

So yea, not a major case, but I'd say probably the sickest I've ever been personally.

I'm the only person in my family not to get it, hah. They're all unvaccinated and got it at various points over the last few years. No issues with any of them, including the 70 year olds thankfully.
My friends and I are having a contest to see who can make it the longest without ever catching it. We're now down to just two people, after my doctor friend caught it last week. Despite my job being to get people to cough up their lungs for a living, I'm still in the running! Precautions seem to work well when you're diligent, whereas all but one of my family managed to come down with Covid over Christmas because they didn't wash their hands. Now kids are wonderful, but if they give you anything - a truffle, a sweet or a tangerine, doesn't matter what it is, they're giving you a flu. That was wisdom I learned way before Covid but it bears repeating

I'm not sure which came first - your message, or me saying in the WTF thread that I've got covid  :P

Either way, yea, I'm out of the running now.

I went to bed shaking uncontrollably last night, woke up at 4am absolutely boiling and thirsty as hell, and now I've got a headache/slightly dizzy.

Pretty scary ngl.

Edit: wondering if it was dehydration. I've been drinking a helluva lot today without much need for bathroom breaks.

Nevermind, apparently it's covid. Yay.

Hmmm. I'll maybe check just to verify none of it went over into another chunk. I suspect my problem was more two 'consecutive' redstone pulses, though. It was only designed to deal with one every sun rise and set.

Therefore, if the chunk unloaded at sunset and then loaded again during the day, two signals may have been sent.

A large part of the problem is that I like to work out my own redstone solutions, so the design is likely bulky and in places counterintuitive. Frankly, I can no longer remember how it all works  :D

Edit: Also, what's 'the gate of Mamgozgídthůr'?

Mate, the first gate like this I made was maybe three blocks tall and required a block of grass to determine whether it was day.

By comparison this is overly complex  :D

You are making me wonder whether it's possible to form some sort of calendar and only have the door open one day per year, though.

The problem of the chunk's status (loaded/unloaded) is a factor for that as well, though :/

Not sure I ever showed Moria's back gate. I had it linked to a daylight sensor, which seemed to work - - - -  until it really didn't. I'm guessing there were too many moving parts and its chunk being loaded/not loaded messed with it.

I realised and edited in an apology! But again, sorry for misunderstanding.

The Irish language is still spoken in some extreme Western areas, but even there it's largely artificially enforced. My ex for instance was sent to one of those Western areas (the Gaeltacht) as a girl. The girls had their phones taken off them and weren't allowed to speak anything other than Irish.

That's atypical, though, and most really only know a smattering.

Okay. It's fairly simple, really.

'Northern Ireland' is the official name of the country which voted to join the United Kingdom, thus dividing the island of Ireland into two political and cultural entities. The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

'North Ireland' has often been used to imply a lack of legitimacy. Particularly as the Republic of Ireland is frequently simply called 'Ireland,' which would make 'North Ireland' essentially its province.

Edit: Ninjas. What the above said.
Edit Edit: Although some caveats with Grim Portent. Largely that there is no 'Northern Irish' language. There is Ulster Scots, but it's not spoken by anything approaching a majority.

'Northern Irish' is basically just our accent ahahaha.
Edit Edit Edit: Sorry Grim Portent, I just realised 'are generally speaking Northern Irish' didn't mean they spoke a distinct language, it meant 'are, generally speaking, Northern Irish.' Ahhh. I feel a tad idiotic now.

Hehe, no biggy. I don't blame anyone for doing it (non-maliciously). I've just been programmed from a very young age to be aware of the political implications!

Essentially, it's me - not you.

It's not as confusing as the ads I've been getting in which a corporation (possibly a bank?) brags about helping lgbt homeless.

I'd think they'd be better not..... discriminating there according to sexuality  :-\

Quite obviously a 'what's the social trend we can exploit to get the most social points?' scheme.

Step One: Throw self at wall.
Step Two: Get complimented on wall-climbing prowess.
Step Three: Realise Forearms are your limitation.
Step Four: Gym x10000
Step Five: ????
Step Six: Throw oneself at the climbing wall, overcoming all challenges.

((I've noticed significant improvements in my climbing!))

On the plus side, at least they acknowledge that they're revolting.
