All Milos really could do was stand there in silence in response to everything, as he had nothing else to say; he had already said his piece and he hoped that would bring a little understanding. He initially looked a tad relieved that the king was calling the Laguz to order... but something stirred inside of Milos at the comment of him being a 'whimpering child'. It was something that paralyzed him more than he already was paralyzed from. It wasn't just fear, it was... a bit of... some kind of angry feeling. If he wasn't still afraid, and if he wasn't standing in the presence of a king, he might have stood up, but all he really did was shrink back in shame.

Grae's encouragement, however, was enough to somewhat bring a bit more of a spring back into his step. He stood up a little more, but still said nothing... only trying to look a little more confident, even if he was still trembling. He tried to take deep breaths as quietly as he could as Grae spoke on his behavior. He looked... a bit ashamed as Grae came to him.

"I-...I'll be fine... I-I'm really sorry about overreacting and... getting you in trouble with the king like that. But... I promise I'll... I'll get better over all of this. It just caught me off guard..."

...Milos' words dropped to a whisper he only intended for Grae and himself to hear.

"I... I might whimper a lot... but I'm not a child. I... I will prove that."

It almost felt like Milos was going through a complete physical and mental shutdown, especially as he was patted and questioned, and especially after making a complete fool out of himself. Many, many thoughts were going through his mind at the moment, and he tried to voice something to try and cover himself up so that Grae wouldn't be embarrassed.

"...Eep."

That was all he managed to get out as Joachim and one of the other Beasts began to get way too close for comfort, even if they were regular humans. It took a little bit to muster the courage to speak, notably as he looked at Grae, trying to save face.

"...I... I'm scared of... beast Laguz... I-I don't know why, I-... I just am... I came because... I wanted... To overcome that fear... because it's... irrational..." He seemed to almost shrink in size. "P-Please don't think I'm not willing to work with you, I'm just... a bit... high strung... is all... s-..sorry."

In the presence of the king, Milos was doing somewhat okay in keeping his cool and not going into a complete panic. The skirmish against the group had steeled him just a tad bit; if anything, he was just relieved that they were on the king's side and not planning on a fight. He planned to just keep himself quiet and out of the way and let Grae do the talking and then do whatever task given to him.

What he was not prepared for was learning that he was going to be traveling with three of the things that terrified him so much.

"!?"

His terror was quickly replaced by not making eye contact and trying not to look utterly freaked out; he wasn't sure what worried him most, the three allies working with him being what he feared most, or Grae's disappointment. He tried to think of positives. There were only three; three of them were birds, and he didn't mind the birds so much, though Kawri's comment made him recoil just a bit. It was enough to stop him from trying to correct her that he was male.

"Er... I-I'm actually a b-... er....."

While trying to process a polite way to correct the very threatening bird, he stole a glance at Joachim (who, of course, he kept throwing glances at all of the beasts to make sure he wouldn't get suddenly attacked) winking at him. He had been considering not saying his name, but the wink was enough.

"M-Milos! Milos! It's Milos!"

He gave a brief moment of silence after he panicked, looking around at anyone, his expression trying to mellow out at the potential judgmental glances of his team and potential prey-seeking glances of his new teammates.

"...Crawford... Milos Crawford."

This mission was going to be rough.

After the last bit of fighting ending, Milos took a second to get a little bit of distance from everyone to take some deep breaths and calm down. Afterwards, he made his way back to the group after Grae called everyone together; a little bit fidgety and sweating a little, but mostly calmed down.

"I'm really thankful that's over..." Milos meekly whispers. "I'm ready to keep going now."

The more the cat attacked Milos, the more he panicked. While the panicked look was evident on his face, he did not shout nor make any noises, and he tried to keep up a determined look about him, occasionally stealing glances to see if Grae was watching him closely to see how he reacted. He tried to keep up a fight, but he was in trouble... all he could do was support his allies and pray that things went well for them.

When the cat began to close in on Milos, his entire body began to stiffen up, and sweat began to pour from every bit of his skin. He wanted to scream, but not only did he feel like his vocal cords were paralyzed, but he knew he had to stay strong... but the attack hurt him. It hurt him and he wanted the pain to stop. Before he knew it, he had dealt a rather nasty blow to the Laguz; a nastier blow than was done on him, it seemed. This relaxed Milos... but just a bit. Alys' healing also helped him relax... just a little.

"Th...thanks."

Though his morale was low, he still tried to show some optimism, and danced for his crew... but he didn't show off too much.

The tigers were starting to get closer, and as a result, Milos started to back away into the cover of everyone... but then stopped. Taking a deep breath, he was able to try and calm himself... they were scary, but he had a duty to uphold; he had to cover Alys... and if he couldn't do it by himself, he'd have to help others so that his job could be done!

"D-Don't give up! I believe in you all...!"

The second the Laguz showed up, Milos froze in place, shaking all over, though it was obvious he was making an effort to stop shaking, reducing his shaking to his legs. Regardless, he could not do anything but stare in fear of the beast as he appeared to Grae.

"..."

He very nearly panicked when they were challenged to a fight, but Grae's orders managed to calm him down a tad.

"I-... I-I'm on it, s-sir..."

He was definitely going to try to avoid those things as far as possible... though the birds he could try to take on if he could hit them. For now...

Claire's smile did not go unnoticed either despite Milos' slightly hung head. The sight of her smile made him perk up a little, and though his silence still remained, he looked a little calmer and happier despite the rain.

"..."

Internally, he was also extremely grateful she didn't speak up and draw too much attention to him while still letting him know she cared. He still didn't speak, but thankfully his conscience was clearer, and hopefully if he had something to say in response to perhaps Clover or someone else, he would be able to say it.

Hearing everyone talk to each other was a strange case for Milos; he was familiar with everyone and felt safe talking to them, but... it was hard to utter words. He wasn't sure how much everyone inferred from him of his fears; he gave quiet yelps of surprise whenever a Laguz jumped out at them, and remained rigid and silent throughout all of Grae's persuasions. Other than that, however, he managed to keep himself... relatively calm. However, the tension radiating off of Milos was not easy to cover, and Milos did not want people worrying about him. People worrying about him would just make him feel worse about coming... and potentially ruin the point of coming in the first place.

Trying to find the words to speak, whether to respond to Claire's question of if everyone was doing okay, Grae's talk about the mission briefing, or even asking about Clover's last encounter with royalty...

"......"

...Unfortunately, words couldn't come to Milos. Hoping their silence would be masked by the sounds of the rain, and their nervous face would be masked by walking alongside everyone else and keeping his posture otherwise steady, he pressed onward without a peep.

When you were afraid of something, there were only two things you could really do. You could forever live your life in fear of that thing, allowing it to control you, make you weaker, all for the hopes that someone else will protect you. That was not a path Milos wanted to go down; he had the protection of his loving parents for so long, but he knew that if he wanted to make his way in this world, he was going to have to go down the other path. The other thing you could do when you were afraid is to fight it; even if you were kicking and screaming by the end of it, every battle won was another day you could say that you conquered your fear. Every day of that would allow you to eventually overcome your fear and be the one triumphant.

That was Milos' goal on this mission. It had taken him a lot of persuasion towards Grae to allow him to go on this mission; he promised to do everything he could to keep morale up while also doing well on the battlefield. Thankfully, in the end he was prevailing... though it might have just been a brash act of impulse that made him go on this mission. To be honest, it was not easy; travelling was hard, and they had a few encounters with the dreaded beasts he feared so much... why was he so afraid of them? Was it the teeth? The claws? The snarling? The vicious demeanor? Milos wished he knew... but he had shown improvement, at least, he'd like to believe. Not once had he complained throughout the whole journey no matter how rough it got, even if he was completely quiet for most of it.

"..."

A slight shiver took hold of Milos as more rain came in, but the rain was almost laughable in Milos' eyes. He could get through this... just a little cold and wet rain was not going to stop him from overcoming his fears. Even if he was going into it... kind of in an unorthodox manner, going into an entire country filled with the things he was afraid of. But maybe he would learn there was more to the beasts that plagued his fears. Maybe they would all turn out to be overall, not so bad. Maybe they'd want to help him get over his fears.

...Maybe.
