The following is true:
Once upon a time I played on a server which you could claim chunks as 'faction' spaces and no-one except people from the faction could remove blocks from these spaces [although they could still loot chests]. I was part of the third biggest faction in the server along with a few friends. The town was very large and elaborate with thick walls and a glass dome for a roof. The creator of the town was extremely proud of the faction and his crowning achievement was the vault that all the towns wealth was locked in... We're talking hundreds of gold and diamond blocks. The vault itself was housed by huge iron block doors underground which were controlled via a five digit red-stone combination lock. The vault was so secure that we used to accept payment to have people store their stuff in our vault.
One entrepreneurial young fellow decided that he would like to break into this vault which was widely accepted as being impenetrable even by the admins that controlled the server. And he quickly discovered the one weakness in the system... The creator's hubris... He had made the system too elaborate and large. The thief tunneled under the town border and found a natural cave that allowed him into the inner-workings of the red-stone under the town. He supposedly studied the red-stone for an entire week [it was a pretty complicated design]. He was pretty sure he had the combination worked out but he still needed access to the vault. He waited for the opportune moment to strike. One morning at 3:00am there was only a few players from our faction on and all were out of town except for one. Stowing away his diamond gear and wielding only a wooden pickaxe the thief approached the gates and hailed the player [a new recruit to the faction] to come over.
The new recruit was suspicious of the thief, asking what his business was. The thief claimed to want to also join the town and would like to see inside before he made his mind up. After some to and fro where the thief was able to recount several prominent members of the faction and some faction business that he had picked up through careful observation over the last few weeks the rookie finally let the thief into the town. The thief asked to see various things the town was famous for, taking his time before finally requesting to see the vault. "I dunno" the rookie said, "I don't think I'm supposed to take people down there." "Come on, whose it going to hurt?" replied the thief. "What am I gonna do? Rob the place?" Both the players laughed, and the rookie opened the doors that led down into the vault. Upon reaching the giant iron doors the thief quickly discovered a huge problem with his plan...
The combination lock required a series of stone buttons to be pressed in the correct order for the vaults to open... He thought he knew the combination but he was unable to press the buttons due to being on our factions space. Panicking for just a second the clever thief quickly devised a devious, yet risky plan. "Hey I really appreciate you showing me around town" he told the rookie... I have just one piece of diamond and I'll give it to you if you'll humor me with a little game." "Okay!" the rookie said without a moments hesitation "what do I have to do?" "I'll hit a bunch of numbers on the door over there and if you can hit them in the same sequence I'll give you the diamond." The rookie paused for a moment but deciding that there was no way that this innocent looking fellow with his wooden pickaxe could possibly know the key to the vault he obliged...
As the rookies hands hit the last of the five digits the iron blocks were pushed aside by pistons and the vaults interior was revealed. The thief paused for a moment and with slight regret muttered "sorry" before drawing his diamond sword and cutting the rookie in two. Rushing into the vault he gathered as much as his inventory would hold and threw everything else on the floor to disappear. Later on he would post the entire story of how he cracked the vault onto the server forums...
The faction collapsed shortly after due to financial ruin and many members deserting in disgust. But even the creator of the town and the vault had to give the thief credit for penetrating the impenetrable vault before he too left the server...
And that is the tale of Oceans Eleven... Minecraft style.
