General Discussion / Re: Man jailed for trolling

Good riddance. Hopefully after a few more people get jailed for such offenses the minority of people on the internet who get their jollies by messing with other people will learn to grow the fuck up.

Are we thinking that this will be released some time in 2012 or some time in 2013?

DF General Discussion / How Close are we to the Next Release?
« on: September 07, 2011, 08:56:36 am »
Sorry to ask this (if its already been asked or if it's in the wrong section?) but I haven't been able to follow Dwarf Fortress developments due to a hectic year and I've noticed the DEVELOPMENTS page has pretty much been entirely abandoned. Can someone catch me up on how close we are and what can be expected in the next release that might save me hours I don't have of trawling through various posts around the place?

Nice! I'm inspiring modders! Ill get some more game time ASAP.

As for buildable bones, you could allow dwarves to craft bone blocks at a craftshop?

Yeah but I'm not sure it would be practical to scroll through 300 different varieties of specific animal bone blocks every time you wanted to do something with the craft shop :P.

I'm surprised the 'political correctness police' haven't invaded this thread yet. I suggested something similar a long time ago over IRC and some people seemed to think that ooohhh no... You can't have different 'races'... That would be racist :P. Because remember kids... Anyone who suggests racial diversity exists is obviously some kind of neo-nazi ???. NOTHING TO SEE HERE... GO BACK TO PRETENDING THAT EVERYONE IS EXACTLY THE SAME IN ALL WAYS :P.

I mean... But then again... It is the IRC channel... George W Bush junior makes more sense :P.

More! More! :)

This fort has inspired me to look into somehow making animal bones a build-able material because I'm pretty sure if there dwarves could they'd build the walls out of badger bones :P.

Need to add a name/job/personality for  :DNarrative:D purposes.

Surprise me :)!

Be content in the knowledge that deep within some dark, secluded corner of the mountainholmes the halls echo with the sound of cursing and hammering and the dimly lit walls flicker with mysterious shadows...

For work on Dig Deeper has not yet finished :D.

We may be fucked even before fossil fuels run out because we will run out of phosphates for fertilizer to grow food. Yay!~

Phosphorus is nothing to panic about seeing as if humanity was really pressed we could recycle human waste product into a renewable fertilizer (there is phosphorus in human waste). The only reason we aren't doing that currently is that I guess people think it's kind of gross... I don't really understand how it's any more gross than using animal waste product but there you go *shrug*.

Peak oil IS something to worry about because we rely on it so much. If the oil dries up we're going to be thrown back into the Dark Ages and while we may still be able to generate SOME green energy the majority of the world is going to be screwed.

I've been gone for a few weeks. What features have I missed? Did any cool stuff get added?

You shouldn't have to turn off ads - they shouldn't be so intrusive as to steal focus from other applications. With that sort of activity, I'd normally be running anti-malware programs.
I agree that it's intrusive, but you can just turn them off. This is like saying "Well the light was too bright so I shut off power to the house."

More like: "Well the light was too bright so I detonated a tactical nuke on it." :P

How long do you thing they'll be out?

Really gotta wonder about Ubisoft's PR department.

I don't think they have a PR department. They are probably using the funds that they save from not having one to attempt to resurrect cyborg-Hitler so he can be the new leader of the company :-\.
