I thought I posted, but I guess I forgot to hit "post".

Anyway, extend because there's more discussion to be had today. (PPE: the day just got extended anyway.)

So I did get a roleclaim PM from doll, but it was an impossible claim (PPE: Yeah, he claimed agent operative to me which is just silly). Currently, I'm inclined to think that doll really is a survivor who is currently helping town. I am against lynching him for now, but I would like to see some kind of inspection done on him.

We also have several people (wuba/hector) defending doll and some others like leafsnail/shakerag want him dead. Thus, although I'm against a doll lynch right now, I'll be really interested to see what alignment/role he flips.

TBF is currently up for lynching, but it appears to be because people don't like the way he posts which is a silly reason. Odds are he'll be lynched anyway, so at least we can get info.

So:

DA/hector/IO: Why do you want TBF lynched so badly? How do you (and hector especially) think doll compares in terms of scumminess?
Leafsnail/Shakerag: I'd like to see a general list of reads from you two.
doll/webadict: You've been siding together, which is odd because I'm not even sure if doll is town. However, webadict says that you pm'd role to each other so I can't assume both of you are scum. I'm also confused about why you would tell each other your roles this early. Why did you think it was safe? Why do you trust each other?

So what kind of consequences would making the Fed powerless have? From a regulatory standpoint (making environmental/business/civil liberty/civil right protections based on the state rather than the nation) some states are going to become quite terrible for the average person to live in. With these issues, here are some possibilities:
-Inequality doesn't increase too much at the national level, but states that already have heavily regressive tax systems and large socioeconomic/racial divisions (the Deep South, for example) will have inequality get even worse. The rich get richer because they have less taxes but the poor get little if any benefit. In addition, as corporations are taxed less businessmen end up with even more influence. Worst case, businesses completely control some states.
-Racial/discrimination issues increase in some states. Muslims and Mexicans are currently targets, but there are lots of different minority groups that could be targeted over the next few years. There will be protests against this, but the national government will be weakened enough that it can't do too much anyway.
-Some states become police states.
-On the other hand, states that are currently handling these problems will probably improve without the federal government holding them back. Ironically, these will be states such as California that like having a strong government, although at the state level the government will probably be strong.
-Environmental problems are going to be a big issue. If there's a large city that sits on a state boundary and one state is anti-environment[al regulation] while the other has strong environmental laws, what happens when pollution spills over? What happens if cars are legal in one state but too dirty for another? To meet regulations, will some businesses move factories over to states with little to no regulation?
-And of course a decade or so of progress in fighting global warming will be destroyed.
Some other interesting stuff could also happen:
-states become much more distinct and more like separate nations.
-large numbers of people migrate to states that are nicer to live in.
-quality of life begins diverging between states.
-and the risk of a general financial meltdown increases as banks are deregulated.
And moderately funny/ironic stuff that's much less likely:
-current heads of federal agencies succeed in destroying the government so well that they remove their own jobs.
-congress shuts down the federal government again but doesn't start it up again.
-people in the government start cutting each other's jobs

So the three of us who least trusted each other (me/doll/fillipk) were all town

How do I integrate (3x^2+7x+6)/(x^2+x+1)? I've been racking my brains and trying different combinations of partial fraction decomposition, integration by parts, etc. but I can't find a way to integrate it fully.

Try polynomial long division; it should simplify stuff a bit. If that doesn't work, try completing the square somewhere.

I just want people to like me.

Seriously, yeah. When I was trying to figure this out, I spent time trying to change myself and basically invent a new personality just to fit in. I don't think that approach worked much, though.

More recently, I've found some approaches that do help.  Basically I ended up trying to interact with lots of new people until I found some that I could relate to. Eventually, I found people who were similar to me (shared interests/hobbies/etc). It's much more effective to try to find people like you in some way than it is to change yourself to be like everyone else.

It also helped that I tried to go to lots of events that I enjoyed. If you go to a concert/club/other event, odds are the other people there have the same interest. And of course, try to talk to people. Talking to new people is hard but there aren't really bad consequences - if it goes well, you have someone to talk to. If not, then you're likely not going to have to deal with it because you're not going to be in contact with them.
