Considering how rare and far-apart updates are I think deisgnating them to certain days would be a bit pointless. 18 months since the last update? Well it was on a sunday so I guess this one better be on a sunday as well.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: How will sailing work?

Man, I'd love to see a game mode that combines elements of Fortress and Adventure mode wherein you captain a ship and delegate jobs etc. to your crew.

Mosus McBuccaneer cancels Offensive Rope-swing: Object Missing

Mosus McBuccaneer has died after colliding with an object.

There really needs to be a sticky thread somewhere explaining to people why a UI update won't happen for a good time.

The UI is functional. It works. It might be butt-ugly and a bit convoluted but it does its job. If you've played DF as much as you say you have then surely you've grown past worrying about the UI. I (and most other players) would much prefer new game features than reworking of things that already work exactly as intended and really wouldn't contribute to expanding the game in ay way.

Also, money ≠ work on UI. I'm not sure how you came up with that idea, but it's not a good one. You'd be better off camping outside his home with a protest sign.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: The Leaders have been struck down.

I've once recruited a band of soldiers into my party only for them all to instantly and simultaneously drop dead after leaving the travel map and taking three steps with them. The times at which people die of old age seem to be a bit weird at the moment.

That's what you get for recruiting your soldiers from the Don Quixote Retirement Home.

They were experienced and eager to get outdoors again!

Damn, missed the creation of the new thread. Sign me up!

I don't think I've ever been in a situation where an aquifer would have really been useful to me.

I totally support lava tubes and sand (I really like embarking in deserts).
As far as geology, I prefer flatter areas, coasts/beaches and deserts/rocky wastelands. The scarcity of trees in the latter two make things more interesting and encourage me to begin smelting as soon as possible.

I'd be interested in joining!
I think the best embark would be a savage biome with enough dangerous neighbours to make things interesting. Without aquifers would be preferable because those things are flippin' annoying.

I wonder if there would be some way to turn a dead leader into a mummy without [OPPOSED_TO_LIFE]. That would be pretty cool, just turn the civ into a necrocracy.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: The journey of Deebus, a kobold story.
« on: November 03, 2013, 09:24:16 pm »
Oh no. I'm almost certain that Deebus travelling with a companion can only end badly.

Although... if Deebus died and Tlukankus survived she could take his stuff and pretend to be him... turn Deebus into a legacy-hero. THAT would be awesome.

I had a dwarven adventurer named Kol Earthtorch, the Flaming Moth of Alchemies, which was cool enough, but he had just cleared out a kobold hoard by himself and found a small bronze figurine of himself! He was so famous they were making action figures of him! What's the neatest thing you've ever found while going through loot?
Did you then proceed to use it to beat your adversaries to death?

I think the best thing I've ever found was a mysterious pile of things that don't usually appear in adventure mode, right in the centre of a hamlet. The pile was filled with barrels of various alcohols and foods, pickaxes, stone blocks, logs and stuff. My adventurer had a healthy diet of Plump Helmet Roast and Dwarven Ale and went into battle with a Steel Pickaxe. It was incredible. Still have no idea where all this crap came from though.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: High Priests talk to Deities
« on: October 26, 2013, 01:03:33 am »
I believe in older versions it was possible to become part of a religion by talking to a priest which would give your adventurer the same options. I'm guessing this is just a relic of that.
