By the brilliance of Andrea, we have acquired ourselves a NEW FORUM!

(Because the in game one is shoddy).

Hooray! Not that I care that much...
Is it linked in the Alliance page?

I used reveal after a LOT of digging in both. No candy whatsoever! I will look for this file. If it's not there can I just copy and paste your post in, save it, regen a world, and everything will be good again?

Maybe. I've never dug to candy before, and I never used reveal for that. The file's in the raw/objects folder and if it's not there, that might be the problem. Otherwise, something's wrong with generating it, and you'll just have to cheat if you really want it.

Did you use:

It might be the fact that it's tagged with [DEEP_[Spoilers]], so you have to use that to find it.

So I installed this mod, I merged it with LNP for the startup options. I have embarked in 2 different areas of the same world (both 3x3). And neither one has candy... This is a bit odd.
Does this mod make it less frequent? Or is it because I merged it with LNP?
As a side note, everything else works perfectly.

In the inorganic_stone_mineral.txt file, there should be an entry that looks like this:

If that's there, there should be candy. Did you have DFHack? If so, try using reveal if you haven't. Including the one where you reveal the circus.

Has anyone asked if tanning or cooking prevents necromancy?
I'm pretty sure that no, no one in the thread has asked that before.
Yep. Probably no one has asked that before.

Though if your question was "Does tanning/cooking prevent necromancy?" I would say yes.

That seems a little risky- some other necromancer might catch the pigeon and either use it as a magical link to us, or use it to physically trace us down.

Everything we do is risky, from swimming across a river being chased by rangers, to tracking down the kids. Anything can go wrong.

I am rather not okay with "Staying in one place indicates passivity or stupidity."
Who invented the computer you're reading this on: sedentary humans or nomads?

Staying with the other goblins despite differences of opinion indicate social behaviour and cooperation.
Say, if you were the humans there, and see one of those unknown alien roaming around, what will you do? Congratulate him for showing curiosity and wit?
No, be honest, you'll rush to the nearest alarm and call security, screaming about a containment breach or something.
And that is exactly why I said, "Explore but go back to the "cell" if anyone is heard/seen to be coming"

It's polite to share it with them now, and frees up a hand.

lol, it "frees up a hand."

I wasn't interested in drinking it, just, quote, investigating it.

Share the drink, too.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?

My new fort has a floodplain.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The left half of the river unfreezes much slower than the right half. It creates a damn causing the water from the waterfall to build up faster than it can exit the map from the south. There's a layer of 7 deep water on top of this layer of 7 deep water causing a buildup that spills onto the southern half of the map in the spring.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You mean a damn dam? :P

Anyways:
I was finishing my bedrooms when a were-something attacked. We killed it, and when I was moving over to DT, I accidently closed DF, somehow.
So I lost everything.

Goblins seiged. With fifteen people and a war jabberer. What - the - ****
Elves traded.
Humans - seiged. What!?
Then I remembered the year before. Apparently, that last year, a wagon got stuck when a tree blocked its path, and it couldn't go another way.

Code: [Select]

suddenly became

Code: [Select]

And so, the entire line was trapped. And they broke. Somehow.

So, they seiged - with 25 people. Much more formidable then the goblins, but still - I expected something like 70.
Then they ran into the traps.

They retreated when 3 people died. I was like, "WHAT. THE. CIRCUS. JUST. HAPPENED."

are you using a tbalet, im using a comp

No. It might be my browser, or just the fact that my wireless connection sucks. I have IE7, which I'm currently using.

Let's not derail this thread into a picture fight.

Fakeedit: Dammit, ninja'd
Anyways...yeah, investigate the cylinders and their liquid.

We have important things to do and the world will not wait for us(well, it might, some places base their time on dramatic necessity. Even then, there is reason to believe that there are at least two other protagonist out there...).
You mean antaganists? :P

While saving the children would be very nice, it may turn out to be something that we could spend months studying only to discover that the children's souls are unrecoverable and the only source of viable replacements would be taking the souls from other humans of similar ages... I think that we should brace ourselves for the possibility that we cannot practically fix this and move on.
And in the months we try to do that, we will almost certainly gain experience and learn new spells.

Hmmm... I've changed my mind about telling the priest, with all your criticism. But it'll probably be very hard to learn of the necromantic energy if we do not have permission or if we don't have a lot of information that can tell if it's too dangerous or not. The best way to get permission or to get information from the priest to is to befriend him, and I don't think it'll help to randomly walk out one day.

I now say:
Help the children in any non-necromantic way possible and talk to the priest, using our expert (read: dabbling) social relationship knowledge to attempt to get more out of the priest, then decide on whether or not to look at the necromantic source.

Edit: typo fixed.

So...maybe a couple thousand goblins, with stone-age tech and minimal, if any, ranged weapons against about a thousand futuristic humans...
Let's make peace!
