Well, I just hope she behaves herself...
She won't. Make sure you meet her soon and get the diplomacy over with so she can leave.

Suddenly: Magma.

You folks all know how lava/magma flow works, right? Well I was just minding my own business with a stairway down to the great magma sea next to a volcano. No problem. Then, a month later, *bloop* magma wells up three levels of the staircase. Why? What did I do? :/. Luckily it hasn't flooded anywhere important, but I don't know what got it going in the first place.

Whoops, never mind. I've worked out what I was doing wrong.

I'm not very familiar with the military system in Dwarf Fortress and I'm having a few problems with it, one of which seems to be relevant to Dwarf Therapist.

My dwarves are each holding a ☼steel pick☼, but they are shown as missing equipment 'steel weapon'. Are steel picks not counted as weapons? They don't have mining enabled, so it shouldn't have anything to do with that.

Masterwork DF / Re: Board Rules & File Collection
« on: December 31, 2014, 06:13:48 am »
What are the guidelines for partial reuse of Masterwork DF code/raws? Is it OK to do as long as you credit the source, or would you prefer people don't do it?

It's somewhat doubtful that I'd actually do anything substantial, but I'm curious about whether it would be allowed or discouraged.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
the unretire bug is fixed for DF 0.40.24 (next version). Hint hint. :P

Nope, nor can they be pushed through by moving water. Vertical bars and grates can be destroyed by building destroyers, though.
Eh, nothing is perfect. ;)

I've just watched a group of buzzards fly seven tiles along a river under a floor to get into my place. It must have been at least 6/7 where they got in, but that didn't stop them. I've got a grizzly bear and a giant dingo stationed under the waterfall. Buzzard bits have been flying everywhere.

353
Like the subject says. Can things swim through vertical bars like they can swim through fortifications?

I had a nasty experience with fortifications and a forbidden beast, so I want to be sure. :)

354
I've never had that problem at all.
Ah. I've worked it out. It was my misunderstanding, this time. That bug did exist in an earlier version, but it's fixed now. I was confusing shell with bone/cartilage.

355
I think this is an old bug, but I can't find the report. Anybody want to give it a try? :)

When dwarves have "ignore refuse from outside" set in their orders it seems they will not move refuse that is inside to outside refuse stockpiles.

If it is a new bug I can do up a report + save file.

That's why I make a point to program in middling life spans for goblins.  Their immortality mixed with their aggression makes their takeover otherwise completely inevitable.
The world is only 50-odd years old. Life span obviously isn't the biggest factor.

Sometimes you can fast travel out.
Try dropping +Socks+ to mark dead ends and stuff.
Sometimes the fortress layout will change while you're asleep.
If all else fails, Advfort and mine your way up. :P

I'm a cheating cheater.

Granted, my last fort was relatively close by (about 3-5 days journey as I recall), so, given the high turnover of sites, it's possible that it's already abandoned and waiting.

I peeked around with LegendsViewer. Don't look if you don't want to be 'spoiled'.

I'm a cheating cheater.

I'd take him up to my old failed fort, but it looks like another kobold already beat me to it  :P.

You should pay a visit if you're in the area. And it's not like my (dead) kobold has any claim on it. :P

P.S. On using Advfort
* Some things may cause crashes, like building something where an object is in the way.
* If you can't work out how to do something - ask here or in the advfort thread.
* Advfort is very powerful, but it does take a lot of game time to use.
