Yah, a few forays into terrifying biomes teaches you to cave in your wagon a couple of zlvls and then Floor/Bridge over it at the beginning. Hauling takes to long. The surface is not your friend. Get underground asap.

The goal is to be able to be able to accept migrants and traders. This is no small feat.

Also, if there is reanimation (most likely what you want when you are first cutting your teeth on evil), put cage traps everywhere. In hallways. Around corners. Near workshops. In dining halls. Surround the butcher with em.

Labyrinth is looking gorgeous. Great job on fighting off the siege.

Minotaur has a 12 year child period... I wonder how long before it is going to grow up?

It is more of a "whoever picks it up first when the newest save gets posted."

Someone who is waiting for a turn should disagree with this statement.

Request!

I want to make a water temple in a sinister area, preferably tropical freshwater marsh or a tropical forest. I am looking for a stream or brook (not river) with a large zlvl drop. I want no evil rain, evil clouds, and no reincarnation. A shallow magma sea is preferred, but not required.

Also, I want no ore.

Thank you!

What kind of Minotaur child runs around a glacier..?

Those 10 traps in the snow have been amazingly effective.

Also, what is the fort's adult population up to now?

How the hell are those Yeti children not Domesticated? They weren't trained since birth, or what?

Various mid-level fortress functions were severely damaged upon losing 90% of the fortress population. I am sure there is a memo of a training schedule around from a couple years back by one of the old yeti-whisperers. Regrettably, after blood got smeared all over the walls and halls, such documents were misplaced.
Not to mention all the dwarves with any experience in training animals are mostly scattered around the fortress. Well, parts of them are, at least.

Thankfully, due to the diligent efforts of our cleanup dwarves, the parts are mostly scattered around the throne room/royal chambers at this point. Some of them may have even been collected and put into a grave!

Stray Giant Mongoose! I want one!

If possible I would like to be dorfed, name: Wolfgrim (or any other name that has something to do with wolves) profession: preferably soldier but a weapon/armorsmith would also be nice!

Conveniently, the military is likely accepting applications presently. Just sign on the dotted line...
Alright, hold on, hold on, you sound like you're just going to throw me/my dorf away? Well I am of viking descent so the least you could do is letting me die with an axe in hand in the heat of battle, right?
I'm not the current overseer, so I cannot guarantee your dwarf would be thrown away needlessly. However, during my first term, I was so successful at the task (only two named dwarves remained!) that I was allowed a second stint. The crowning achievement of my second stint was the dwarfing of seven individuals mid-year and losing two, including my own, before year end.

I don't know if pye will be nearly as effective at trivializing your dwarf's existence.

How big was the migrant wave?

Done and Done.

Forgotten Beast Fight Battle Log. First is the doctor, second is the FB.

I want one.

This lever wan't marked. Its the front drawbridge. That knowledge would have been useful.

My Dwarf buys the farm due to negligent doctors. I don't understand why the water source isn't being used.

Here is some FB that doesn't attack even though I think he can get in...

He was a worthless doctor anyway. Always yelling about needing crutches and water. We have crutches! Go get one! Ghosts are being slabbed at the mortuary.

The Mortuary

Happy dwarves make me happy.

The Airlocked depot is nearly complete. It just needs a couple pits for vs building destroyers. That pile is for unuseable clothes. Clothing needs to be exported/atomsmashed/melted due to FPS reasons.

This chunk got walled off due to ferocious FBs.

The skeletons throneroom is slowly dwindling.

Noteable Notes.
I very much tried for a low key year of cleaning. I didn't realize all the various strewn cloths were forbidden until the end of winter. We have some pathing/job/stockpile issues I can't figure out, most notably why our watersource is idle.

Our military is decrepit. Our only remaining hero died due to doctors not being able to hydrate her. Danger room construction is recommended.

Bugging traders on the depot is annoying. I deconstructed two depots. Magma/atomsmashing is recommended for FPS reasons.

Project "MakeHellFreezeOver" is progressing, albeit slowly. A flying FB could present troubles.

Clothing could become a concern.

Finally
Kittens have been adopting dwarves faster then I can butcher them.

Dwarfings.

Me!

Doctor

Note, sometime in spring this 'doctor' was relieved of his duties for refusing to treat a patient. And by 'refusing' i mean "keep spamming me with unable to feed/dress/give water/bandage patient" messages. I was not pleased.

This mayor likes buckers. Acceptable.

Defenses-- Moar Traps!

This forgotten beast cannot get in.

Other news. Fall just happened. The human caravan came and went and due to a double depot problem, the depots got deconstructed and they left. Another migrant wave happened, we are around ~50 workers. Mostly hauling. The surface is nearly cleaned off.

Ghosts happen occasionally. I let em haunt until they do something horrible, then I try to slab em.

I dropped a few captured goblins into the yeti pit for fun, but they killed my remaining war yetis and escaped. A few dwarves lost limbs.

No fun for yetis =/
