I found the Phoebus tileset in the Lazy Newb Pack, but don't normally play on a Windows box.
I wanted to use the tileset on my Mac laptop. I found a lot of Linux instructions that "should" work on a Mac, but had trouble "filling in the gaps", and didn't see any step-by-step instructions that were specifically for a Mac.
So I tried all the posts, took notes, and eventually got it working. Here are my Mac specific instructions. I need to play a game to test it all, but previously I had "c" for chickens, and now I have the white hen icons like I had with the Lazy Newb pack.

My Mac / Phoebus Instructions (mostly from previous posts)
1. Download df_34_11_osx.tar.bz2 from
http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/2. Download DF_Phoebus_34_11v00-PreInstalledPackage.zip from
http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2431Now the actual commands:
tar -xvjf df_34_11_osx.tar.bz2
unzip DF_Phoebus_34_11v00-PreInstalledPackage.zip
mv DF_Phoebus_34_11v00-PreInstalledPackage.zip Win32Ph
mv df_osx Phoebus
Then…
rm Win32Ph/raw/graphics/graphics_example.txt
rm -rf Win32Ph/raw/graphics/example
cp -R Win32Ph/raw/* Phoebus/raw/
cp Win32Ph/data/art/* Phoebus/data/art/
cp Win32Ph/data/init/colors.txt Phoebus/data/init/
cp Win32Ph/data/init/init.txt Phoebus/data/init/
cp Win32Ph/data/init/d_init.txt Phoebus/data/init/
cp Win32Ph/data/init/embark_profiles.txt Phoebus/data/init/
Now run the game:
cd Phoebus
./df
Be sure to create a new world, prepare for your journey carefully, filter for a good embark spot, and enjoy!
