You resign from your post, without much hassle. It briefly hits the news. You tell everyone there is no food, but you are working on importing food.
Everyone knows agricultural workers can't be evil. Because they play with dirt. So you simply ship in the most nutritious soil you can and completely fill in the flat with it, five feet deep. You send your japanese towelgirls to slave over the thousands of seeds you have imported.
Remembering highschool, you remember that you need to have something to pollenate the plants. Prefereably something evil.

You respectfully decline Al-Quaeda's offer to join you. The Russian Mafia, on the other hand, agrees. You try to build a glass dome, but that fails, and you install a bunker under your mansion, accessible only through your mansion, to be able to house a large number of folk happily and secluded from each other. You look at your island, and realize that there's no food out here, or drink, and there's a large flat. The president of the company asks where you are, and you can't keep him happy for long by dodging the question.

Basically, yeah.
You start making waves in the criminal underground as you continue to run your pharmaceutical company from the island. Big names from the Russian Mafia to Al Quaeda start contacting you, and you tell them your island is an invisible safe haven. But you still need a place to house them.

Don't tell anyone our guy's identity, he must wear a mask if need be.
This island's not under the dominion of any other nation right?
For your information, the island is a nameless, small island on the Pacific rim. It has no official ownership, as it's a huge chunk of rock, basically. I'll draw up a quick, terrible map of it.

If you can catch some fish reasonably quickly, I say put the water in the inner glass wall. Stock with the fish. Or use magma otherwise.

Anyway, since it seems we're going the way of Han from Enter the Dragon,
Hire several martial artists, including ex-special forces, to train our guy into a killing machine.
Bodyguards, pirates and weapons won't be enough when assassins come knocking at our guy's door.
Pirates. Working on a ship. Yes.
You hire rogue war vets and spetznaz operators to train you and your top ten pirates into lean, mean killing machines. This may take time.
You try to rig the volcano to detonate at the press of a button, but seeing as the flow is thin, the volcano doesn't do too well in the explosion department. You instead now have a moat of lava, kept hot by circulating magma.
The pirates inform you that your carrier can now move by itself, the old AA guns are stocked, and the MiGs are refueled. You notice this island has a distinc lack of anti-air capability.

It's small, but is defendable and has bedrock all the way to the bottom of the ocean, with one accessible inlet and sheer cliffs all around. You carve a mansion out of the stone and order your japanese towelgirls to start smoothing the floors and walls. They weren't doing enough anyway. Your MiGs are parked on your carrier, and the pirates are hard at work repairing the battleships.

All right. So you manage to pay off the bank manager, and are even able to pin it on your rival. Your assets free back up, gaining you half of what's left in you bank.
He resigns from his position on national TV, apologizing for his mistake. You pay off the bomber to keep quiet, and to work for you. You shut down a factory and donate the building to the US government, and promise to pay for its power for another year. Your business rival, on the other hand, is properly framed and sent to federal prison for not only your crime, but for framing you.
