Oh, I don't have vision? Attempt to manifest some cameras directly linked to my life spirit, giving me vision.

Woot!

If anything moving appears ahead, attempt to gain speed. If things that could kill me (rocks, trees) appear, attempt to stop then reverse.

Well, that's useless. I'm just a hunk of metal if I can't move, so try again.

Well shoot.

Attempt to gain traction. If successful, travel in a straight line until hitting (and hopefully murdering) something.

Hmmm. This looks interesting.

Attempt to manifest a giant stompy steam-powered machine of war.

Other Games / Re: Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead - Version 0.9 "Ma" released!

A) Kinda the wrong place to report. Bug reports belong on the tracker or the official forums.
B) Without a save, that's almost a pointless report, due to the lack of info.

Oh, sorry. I'll go see if the save is still there, and if so go put it on the tracker.

Edit: Oh well, it seems to have been deleted, as I didn't save at all before it crashed. At least that seems to be what happened.

Just wanted you guys to know that I had a random crash. Stepped outside the evac shelter in the rain to investigate some noise and immediate CTD. No errors or debugs or anything.

Oh well, I'm enjoying the game. Actually started playing about a year ago, and occasionally go to this thread to read it. No idea if this bug is known or not.

I've started playing as Hitchakos Mitchuragua. Right now I'm saving up for a asteroid hauler by doing salvage runs. Game is quite fun so far and can only get better.

I just saw this, and it looks awesome! I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I'm working on it. Totally gonna be watching this.

I don't want a turn, but I'm gonna be playing each update, obviously :P

Well some people have really got out of hand when it comes to Nazi discs. Stupid conspiracy theorists.

I was continuing to read around, and apparently the Germans may, and I say may, have broken the sound barrier during WWII with a modification of the V-2. (If you look for this on Luft 46 it won't be there, it was on another site.) So the X-1 may not have been the first to break the sound barrier. (Chuck Yeager still would have been, even if the Germans had in fact broken the barrier, as the test flight was unmanned, despite the modification was made to incorporate a pilot.)

General Discussion / Luft 46

Has anyone checked out http://www.luft46.com/?

Most of the designs there are so immeasurably awesome that they make me want to scream "Why did YOU GERMANS NOT BUILD THIS!? (I know, being trampled by the Allies, lack of resources, but still some of these were conceived in the 1930s for goodness sakes. The Germans actually had the opportunity to build a Mach 2.5 COAL POWERED fighter, so why in the all loving fucks did they not, or at the very least did the Allies who captured the plans not!?

Seriously, this site is pure awesome. And if you want to see some non-German aircraft look at some of the model companies on their links page, of which my favorite is Anigrand. I'm not saying you buy or anything, but the model companies have histories for many of the aircraft and X-Planes they feature.

I think we need to develop some god damned eyes!
No we don't. Eyes are pretty useless in murky water, and rather hard to develop anyway.
We need eyes eventually though.
Why?
Eyes are only "dominant" because those clades that are unusually good at adapting happened to have eyes as an ancestral characteristic. If the ancestral chordates had electricity-sensitive rather than light-sensitive cells, we would be arguing over electric sense vs. that crazy light-sense. Also, as noted, many creatures lost their eyes, so clearly they aren't all that important...especially if we have a variety of other senses that can be used in their stead.
And look at our creature. Its closest parallels are cephalopods and cnidarians, two clades which have not ever had a terrestrial member. What makes you think we're going on land any time soon?
Because if we want to be able to make nukes, we'll need fire to smelt the materials. And I'd say we're more fish with tentacle faces and deathcloud-makers in their gills. And pocket guts. And fangs. And a radula.
Okay we have many features from octoPODES but we look like a pretty fishy.
And that spearface guy might make nukes before us if we don't get onto land eventually.
1. What makes you think that we want nukes?
2. What makes you think that Bay12 can't come up with a way for aquatic animals to create a nuclear-age civilization?
3. Since this is an evolutionary suggestion game, what makes you sure we'd be able to control our civilization?
I think nukes and stuff would be cool, but I agree with GreatWyrm. We can develop that stuff underwater somehow, and it would be cool to be blind, relying on electro-sense and smell the whole time.

+1 to brain and body structure. Maybe cartilage because it's light and we're doing pretty nicely without bones anyway.
Yes, +1 to brain and some sort of structure, preferably cartilage.

((Hope you guys don't mind if I drop in every now and then :P))

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Housing Value Questions
« on: May 08, 2013, 01:29:31 am »
1: I don't know.
2: I don't think it matters.
3: Stuff encrusted with jewels, adamantine, high value stones like microcline. You can also put a lever in their room and link it to a bunch of stuff with high value mechanisms. The values of individual components like aforementioned mechanisms and encrusted jewels do figure into the value of the object. Artifacts with a lot of jems and high value stones on them are good for increasing room value too.
