DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Finding your old fortress...
« on: October 19, 2012, 11:09:40 am »
So here's a newb to adventurer mode question, how do I find my old abandoned fortress as an adventurer?  It seems that things look different and I cannot seem to find it.  Any suggestions?

I added [LITTERSIZE:5:10], that should be all i need to do to increase the litter size the creature has right?

Another quick question.  How can I make them reproduce quickly so that I can make them more like the tribbles from star trek?

Thank you, that was the problem! It works now!

Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem.  They are still not available from the embark screen to buy, even after adding those two items.

Ahh, I think that was the problem!  Thank you Putnam, sorry for such a newbie question! Testing it out right now.

I am attempting to add tribbles to my game, but I cannot seem to make them show up in the buying screen at embark.  I modeled them off of the fluffy warmbler and pigs.  Could you guys tell me what I am doing wrong with my creature file?  I added the creature_tribble file to my raws

Could you install the Tapatalk module on the dwarf fortress forums so that I could access the forums from my Tapatalk app?  I have personally done this for my own simple machines forum and it only took a couple of minutes to install, so it would not take much time or effort.  Its not a big issue, but I would love to be able to access the forums from the app and have notifications and such from the app as well.

I posted this elsewhere and was told that I should probably post it here.

This might not be the best forum for it. Try the upper forums.
What do you mean? Like the df general discussion?

Okay, I know this is a stupid question, but where can I see the name of my Fort?

Thanks guys for the tips.  I have dug out quite a bit of adamatine, I just haven't used any of it.

As for mods, I want the gameplay yo stay the same, because I love it, but I was just wondering it I should get some that add content or abilities and stuff.  I like the idea of my dwarves having magic, or my adventurer to be able to craft items.

I probably will poke around on the wiki and the draws and attempt to add an item or ore or something tonight just to start learning how to mod.

My recommendation is to look for candy if you want a powerful army. It does what you'd think, except it's incredibly sharp, too. FAR better than iron, or even steel. Think... carbon fiber that can hold a badass edge. There's almost always candy on any given map (it's guaranteed if it's 4x4), but it's usually close to the magma sea, and a lot of players haven't dug that far. Don't know if you have, though.

I almost always dig to the bottom of the map and around the magma sea to get adamantine.  I don't think I've ever seen candy though.  Is it called candy or does it have a different name?

Thanks everyone for the recommendations.  Now, what is this circus I keep hearing about?
