Its something to do with if you have a z-level of undug ground between that level and the surface (must have wall not just floor) or so I've heard.

I think this is a result of the bug which makes inddor areas count as outdoor check if the stone is "outside" if it is turn on refuse hauling outside (

How about having earth which can fill up a square in a similar method to water, so you could have a square which is earth 4/7 and water 3/7 for example, you could also then have it so dwarves can go up and down a certain number of earth levels so whilst they couldnt go from a 0/7 earth to a 6/7 erth they might be able to go from a 0/7 to 2/7 to 4/7 to 6/7. this would mean they could also go from a 0/7 down a z level to a 6/7 or vice versa. anyway just a suggestion i could never make a game this good and bow before you.

DF Bug Reports / Marksdwarves wont use bolts
« on: January 20, 2008, 12:21:00 pm »
My marks dwarves are refusing to grab metal bolts when i send them out to fight. They are repeatedly doing this despite the fcat that they have demenstrated an ability to reach the stockpile when training with bone bolts. they wont even take their bone practice bolts.

DF Bug Reports / Brooks flood
« on: January 19, 2008, 12:23:00 pm »
My brook has a waterfall (natural one) But the water piles up above the brook tile (brook is in a canyon) and the tile above that so in a side view it ends up as something similar to:
code:

b=Brook
1/2/3/4/5/6/7=water
#=wall

0000000000000000012345bbbbbbbbb
0001111222233345677777#########
bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb#########

And the amount of water not in a brook is increasing

DF Bug Reports / dead dwarves
« on: November 03, 2007, 12:00:00 pm »
One of my dwarves recently went beserk and got killed i had no coffins so i designated a graveyard whilst i built some, eventually my coffins got built and i had dug out a tomb area so i set them down and the dwarves put the (rotten) corpse parts into it. the parts then began spreading miasma everywhere which i was under the impression it shouldnt do(ive never had a dead dwarf anywhere accesible before). once the flesh had rotted my dwarves took the bones back to the graveyard, then they took the bones and put them back in the coffin. This seems a bit long winded and pointless surely they should just shove the parts in the coffin and be done with it?

Also, I abandoned that fortress before the next version even came out, because there were no trees nor water despite both being on the embark screen--it was the old tree line bug.</STRONG>

I remember my first couple of forts were in areas with a dirt layer, and i couldtn figure out stairs. started on one with limestone and still couldnt use any stone. i remember thinking i might never be able to use stone ever again, lol

DF Bug Reports / ground change bug.
« on: November 30, 2007, 10:12:00 am »
i just started a new fortress (first one one this world) and the ground is flickering rapidly between different mineral types, its only the area which should be red sand, the actuall walls are fine and the ground is fine wherw its basalt.

EDIT:

Map no movie, its too large even though its only about 10 secs

Also this map is supposed to have sparse trees and vegitation but i cant see any.

DF Suggestions / Re: More Civ Types?
« on: March 12, 2008, 10:15:00 am »
I think that we should have the current civs as they are but maybe have kind of mini civs, like you might tunnel into the underground river only to find snake men living on its banks in huts made of towercap. things like that.
