Welp, probably should've shot the flak cannon's first volley at the flagship's drone control instead of at the missiles. I could've sent boarders to sabotage the missiles in peace. On the brightside, I beat the first stage of the ship with a primarily boarder based ship.

That's evil. I guess hacking wouldn't work either then.

The rebel flagship's swarms of drones destroyed my cloning bay. All my crew was either dead or boarding the rebel ship, so there was no one left to repair the cloning bay. My crew died off one by one in the cloning tanks until there was no one left.

So, you cannot kill the rebel flagship by suffocating its crew to death, an AI system takes over similar to an auto-ship and you have to deplete its hull.

This was bad for me because I had no missiles left and no non-missile weaponry, only fire bombs and small bombs. I was relying entirely on my raiding party killing crew to beat ships. This resulted in me spreading out my 4 raiders to have each attacking one room to deplete the health slowly by one per room as the ship slowly rebuilt each room.

I was two units away from killing the first phase, but the ship's missiles recovered unexpectedly and several volleys took out too much health. In retrospect I could have tele'd each raider to their own weapon system to keep the ship mostly weaponless. Too bad I'm already dead.

You can also use hacks with boarding to create a stronghold in an enemy ship where you can funnel enemies into the room to fight your crew. The hacked blast doors delay enemy reinforcements, giving your crew an advantage usually, and let your crew attack the room while they're at it, and hacking resets the doors on demand.

Hacking also gives a great solution to pesky medbays keeping the enemy crew alive, or you can hack oxygen and starve the ship to death while you constantly send in suicidal clone boarders to attack and keep the oxygen system destroyed.

Has anyone tried getting all flak weapons on one ship? Probably would be incredibly unlikely and expensive to get working, but it seems like the amount of projectiles you could vomit out would make shields meaningless.

Fun fact, losing a crew member to an event such as the station on fire is not a big deal when you have the cloning bay. I lost a mantis to the station on fire and his new clone popped out with "a newfound respect for flames." Hilarious.

In other news, using zoltan as suicide bombers on the enemy ship is surprisingly effective. Launch two, have them fight as many enemies as possible in the biggest room possible, deal good aoe damage on death to multiple enemies, then send in the two mantis afterwards to clean up while the zoltan clones respawn.

A hacking drone is also good for boarding. Launch a hack at the enemy weapons and then send as many mantis as possible to attack the weapon system while the hack keeps the room locked and you can shut down the enemy weapons in safety. Alternatively I can use zoltan to attack until the enemy breaks into the room and then blast the whole room with a small bomb, killing the zoltan, damaging the weapons more, and hopefully killing multiple enemy crew from the bomb and two zoltan explosions. Then send in the mantis.

Crashed my dad's jeep into the ditch. Totaled it.
...well that really sucks. Good luck with that.

stagger the fire so they both don't fire at the exact same time and you should be fine
I found that manually firing all weapons at around the same time was more effective. For example, I had Halberd Beam+Flak Mk1+Hull Smashing Lasers Mk1+Ion Bomb

Ion Bomb to lower any shields greater than 3, then flak immediately after to bring shields down more, then hull smashing lasers while the shields are lowered, then halberd beam while the shields are briefly lowered. Note I had to pause constantly to get timings right. If I had weapons shooting automatically I doubt I'd have been able to get past the flagship's four shields.

Anyway, beat the flagship for the first time, unlocked a new ship, FINALLY. Only took 40 something tries. Had some difficulty during the flagship's last phase with the boarders. I only had 4 crew, 3 of which were zoltans. I pretty much had to vent all oxygen except for the system rooms. It was real close, there were crew and boarders fighting in the system rooms with fire and oxygen venting out towards the end. Last volley on the rebel ship killed it, but only 2 crew remained, my slug pilot and one zoltan from the original three, the weapons specialist, with 1 health left.

RIP in peace you other two magnificent dudes, your sacrifice will be remembered. I don't even remember your names now, but still.

Privilege: 190 SHITLORD
Huh. I guess I can never complain about anything ever again.
Wait, can we complain about not being able to complain ever again? Can we complain about being shitlords?

I don't think the drone targets flak. Even if it does, the flak comes in one big bunch, so it's less likely for the drone to blast it all in time with its fire rate. Unless you have multiple defense drones. Or multiple mk2 defense drones.

Flagship. Again. By this point I just wanted to reach system 8 so I could get layout C for the Kestrel...except it didn't unlock. So that's cool. Guess I need to get to system 8 with Kestrel layout B to get C, rather than getting there with A. I don't have B unlocked either.

What a waste of time that run was.

Your privilege level is SHITLORD with a score of 130

I knew I was a shitlord deep down inside.

also, I dislike the question on attractiveness. I'm not overweight, hopefully my face is not ugly, and I'm not disfigured, but I'm probably not 9/10 or have a particularly attractive face either. This quiz needs to check its privilege and stop discriminating against me by providing an answer that I believe applies to me. How insensitive of this quiz.
