DF Modding / Virtual Teleportation- a theory

Well I recently was tasked with making a megabeast/wizard thing and one of the ideas that popped into my head was to make it able to teleport. Unfortunately as every modder knows there is no teleport interaction. So I set out to imagine the best way to create one using the current state of the system and its rules.

Basically what I came up with revolves around the implementation of [DIE_WHEN_VERMIN_BITE] in conjunction with an interaction with extreme range that causes the target to transform into the "teleporting" creature. The overall effect of this plan would be to have an interaction that simultaneously kills the user and transforms a random creature on the map into a copy of itself, thus giving the illusion that it simply disappeared and appeared right next to your legendary armorsmith and proceeded to mess shit up. There are of course problems with this, mainly I don't know if the DIE_WHEN_VERMIN_BITE tag is applicable to interactions or just attacks and if successful this would result in a creature that could sustain horrid injuries, and then just "teleport" and have a fully healed functioning version replace it somewhere else as opposed to it simply going somewhere else with its wounds.

So, thoughts?

Ok this is starting to confuse and piss me off. I've created a race that lives an thrives in glaciers and tundras, and now that I got what I believed to be all the kinks worked out I put the file into my raws.

Nothing...the civ hasn't made so much as a brief showing in legends saying "oops, we all died for no reason" Its like the creature that makes up the civ doesnt even exist, and I've played them in arena mode over and over so I know damn well the creature files working...well heres the raws if anyone can spot what might be the issue, please let me know:

Ok, I'm in a fairly unique position. I want to make a new fish that uses alcohol for blood, but I also want it to be butcherable/cleanable for the booze. Will I be able to do that just by making its blood alcohol or will I have to set up a custom reaction for it?

A RtD game where you attempt to have your chosen avatars die and fail in the most spectacular possible way, as opposed to attempting to win...or something....actually this is probably just a normal RtD :P

But anyway, players start by giving themselves a name,profession, and thats probably all they need since your likely going to all die horribly every five minutes....but yeah lets do 5 players at a time, the queue shouldn't last too long.

Changes I made: Made the zombies slightly stronger and tougher, stopped it from removing LIKES_FIGHTING and NO_EMOTION and made sure that it adds LIKES_FIGHTING to the Threadromancers, also removed the CAN_LEARN requirement from actually becoming a Threadromancer (trolls never learn :P) also changed the SPHERE of the Threadromancer from DEATH to TROLLING and the secret goal from IMMORTALITY to ANNOYANCE....please tell me if any of this would cause serious issues ingame

DF Modding / Weapon Damage/Shattering and Effects on combat

I was checking out the weapon stuff and I suddenly wondered if anyone has tested out this idea before. Basically I was wondering if modded weapons could accumulate damage, possibly even shattering on impact. And if so...would the shattering cause damage? It would be interesting to create something like glass crossbow bolts that would pierce an enemy and shatter inside them, kind of a medieval version of hollow point rounds. Or it could even be used to shatter BEFORE hitting an enemy, and use it similar to a shotgun. So has anyone ever tested this theory before?

DF Modding / New modder, creating new Civ

Havent decided on a name yet...also I have some questions about how modded in civs work.
The biggest ones have to do with trade and such, will a modded civ trade with the dwarves, and if so is there some way to make them trade certain things? I.E. how the elves trade wood/cloth/exotic animals, and the humans trade...pretty much everything actually.
Also is there a way to give the civ "preferred" weapons/equipment?

EDIT: Also, since you might be wondering exactly what I want to create, the idea is to make a civilized race that lives in glacier/tundra biomes, is large enough to dual wield 2H swords, regens like crazy (is it possible to regrow limbs without using were-creatures?) and if you piss them off they fight you with hit and run sabotage tactics (they flee easily, have high agility, are mischevious so they will pull levers, and they will guzzle your booze and eat all your food given the chance. oh also their blood will be gaseous and have a contact syndrome that waits a month or so then causes freezing...not sure if I should make it instant freeze or a gradual, treatable thing) but yeah thats what im making.

Recently I genned a world with the temperature max at 200, not realizing that this would make the ENTIRE WORLD MELT PEOPLE....Its currently being used in a Succession fort (A NOOB succession fort to boot) http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=115145.0 <----there.

But this worldgen inspired me to start genning more and more crazy worlds for example this one

The Pre-story
In the hellish DeadLands of The Stormy Continent, there lie a journal, wrapped in cat leather and etched with an image of a dwarf on the cover (the national symbol of The Banner of Abbeys). Scrawled within, a record of hardships left by one who's life began to fade away amongst the scorching no-dwarfs land within The Forest of Hoping. Recovered only recently by historians, it tells the tale of one of the many attempts to save the ancient dwarfs from extinction by finding those few regions that are were still unscorched by the sky fires which ravaged our world in those days. It should be noted, that in the last moments of his life, this brave explorer found one of these holiest of lands, and that on the spot that he perished, a great fortress would be built. A fortress known as TrialFires.

The Forest of Hoping...what a ridiculous name for such a place. DAMN SUN! No dwarf should have to be out in these wastes, least of all a doctor....bastards, only reason they sent me is because they think I can patch up my own damn self. So...a mountain...finally someplace traversible....unfort" Note: there are small amounts of dryed blood on this page and increasingly large amounts on pages afterward, it is assumed that the author was beaten to produce these small amounts and the larger quantities come from when his skin started melting.

Well the carts gone, along with most of the cloth that I was covering myself with. I had to run from the elves after their little shitfit about me using tree products to KEEP MY BLOODY SELF ALIVE. They tore me up good, luckily I still had some suture equipment and got most of the bleeding down after I found a shady outcropping to not MELT under...so little of the cloth left... I'm gonna have to start running and hope I reach the safe region before my skin burns off....if its not just a blasted fairytale to begin with...."

"Heh....well I made it...and its bloody beautiful...I dont think I'm gonna make it much longer now though....the sky fires got me bad....so much blood....but its so cool here....Its almost like the cave back home....back when nanny used to make them cat biscuit casseroles...mmmmm hehe....its as good a spot to stay as I'll ever see"

Note: This journal appears to have been carted off from the TrialFires site only to later be lost in the wastes once again until many years later it was discovered by a passing fisherdwarf...the dwarf corpse found near the journal by the TrialFires dwarves was given a burial on the hill right outside the forts grounds, where he had finally collapsed from the blood loss.
