That's basically short hand for "We want power." Nobody that actually cares about what the president does to the rule of law and society wants another Trump. There has to be an entire class of democratic politician that's seen what Trump was able to get away with and is literally foaming at the mouth for the chance to do the same.

I love science. While Bloomberg and others have shown that there is indeed a kind of Democrat that is crap, on a statistical level, leftists are more willing to hold their own to account than the right wing is.

A victory for Donald Trump, while a catastrophe for Americans, would be less bad than a victory for Bloomberg.

I like Bernie, I like his policies, but god damn are the people who are pushing his message the biggest assholes I've ever met.

Sometimes I legitimately wonder what the rabid Bernie supporters plan to do in the event that they actually succeed at their most vociferously professed goal and everyone richer than them is made just as miserable as they are.

Hey, I see what you're building there, want some more straw?

That has a neat advantage of making it so that the only thing that needs to be synced is the ships sailing between towns. I mean, some level of anti-cheating would be nice...

Granted. Everything you don't already know no longer exists.

@Lord Shonus, On the contrary, I think Bloomberg is trying to sabotage the Democrats by running an anti-gun campaign in purple states, knowing that this will energize the semi-trumpers who care more about guns than about anything else.

Why do people keep talking about Sanders being some kind of an insurgent when both Warren and Bloomberg used to be republicans?

Very well put. I've had similar thoughts in a number of ways. It leads me to wonder what will happen if the Democrats fail to defeat Trump. If they pick Pete or Joe, could there really be a party fracture? And if they pick Bernie and still lose (for any reason,) what then? It would be crazy to see the democrats go from Obama to disintegration in eight years, but looking at the field...

Then there's the Republicans. I do wonder how the party will survive post-Trump. Will the trumpers fall in line? Or are they the party now?

The only problem I have with the theory of Clinton having strong connections to the media is the horrible and strongly biased reporting during the campaign in favor of Trump. If you'd only watched the headlines, you'd have the impression he was the only one running. Oh, and that Hillary personally killed everyone in Benghazi with her email server.

Going back to the debacle itself, I'm pretty sure you could write 95 thesises on reformation of the DNC based just on Iowa alone, and a solid 7 of them could be about corn just for starters. I've half a mind to do just that -- imagine if the democratic electorate demanded that the party replace its leadership and modernize, or at least catch up to the 1900s.

Bernie bro's mostly just a pejorative for the more rabid members of bernie's support base, particularly the vocal (albeit thankfully small in reality, near as I can tell) minority that's heavy on the left wing economy but less so on the social side of things. Generally stereotyped as white, male, and fairly privileged, i.e. the so-called "brosocialist" sorts.

If you see someone super into bernie, especially his economic stuff, but occasionally going into rants about the evils of identity politics or intersectionality or somethin', you've probably found one. They're fortunately not actually representative of bernie's support base, they're just... loud, in some places.

They're the very definition of "useful idiots."

Asking about AI rebellion is really not the right question. We'll have a long period of time between "Autonomous robots can build a entire armies and kill humans under the command of unaccountable humans" and "Autonomous robots can build a entire armies and kill humans under their own command," and I'm honestly more worried about the first.

Alyx wasn't intended to be Valve's next big release... it was supposed to be "oh fun, there's a Half-life-themed game for VR now!"

Valve, oddly, didn't think that the first new HL game in more than a decade would be all that big.
