Your mind starts to awaken from what seems like years of sleep. You don't know your surroundings or even what you're laying on.

From a distance you hear foot steps coming closer to you, only stopping to open something that sounds like a door. Someone touches you with a hand that feels cold as winter. Slowly your eyes open to see a man in a white coat looking down at you with concern and excitement. He's holding a withered clipboard with his left arm. He pulls a pen from his jacket pocket as his mouth opens.

"What is your name?"

How about the deflector picks the person to die for them at the start via PM? If the person they choose dies first, they pick again. If they don't pick again, or forget, then the deflection is nil.
