Thanks. I tried a sortie and like you said, it wasn't that big of a deal. Though in the last mission I did feel a bit like a leech, but I brought some CC like you suggested and that helped keep the other leeches alive so the one guy who knew what he was doing could do most of the heavy lifting. :P

Looks like I'll have to put some work into my primary, because it took longer than I was comfortable with to kill grineer in the last mission.

I think I saw you on an axi relic run in the void last night, Dice.

Anyway, I'm looking for some advice in regards to the higher level content. I have never attempted sorties because I don't want to be a burden on my team - but I'm not really sure at what point I should be able to take that stuff on. I have some prime weapons that I've potatoed and forma'd once. The highest level stuff I have done are void missions - I find I can kill stuff there easily but I can get 1-shot if I am not careful. Because of my propensity towards dying I usually have been playing Octavia so I can spend most of the mission invisible to avoid damage.

Comparing it to other similar games is a valid criticism and not just "hate", especially when the other titles are fairly recent.

Currently if you use the code FN6B-8RML-MLH6-GM2N in the market you get a Vectis Sniper Rifle + a skin for it.

I haven't liked the looks of any of the new Natsume Harvest Moon games and this one in particular looks pretty subpar for the genre. I'd rather revisit something earlier in the series than play any of the crap they've been pumping out with the licence.

The Lindwurm FreeLC is out today. You don't need to start a new game to encounter it, so you can test the mettle of your already existing mercenary bands if you wish.

I'm going to take the opportunity to start again fresh since I haven't played the game in a while.

Happy hunting!

Do they try to make every planet at least some degree of useful?  It seems like there should be several planets in a galaxy/sector/whatever that are just completely useless for a spacefaring civilization, from a realistic viewpoint.  That at least adds something to exploration, where what you find might just be a dud.

Yes, planets have degrees of usefulness, based on what biome your species prefers. Late game habitable planets are less of an issue since you can terraform a planet, you can buff your habitability tolerance up to the point you can settle almost anything, or you can send synthetics to live there. There are also modifiers, like a planet might be rich in a certain resource, or they might have hazards. There are some kinds of planets that will have events tied in with them. Colonizing does feel a bit bland when you're playing, but it could be worse.

I feel like every space 4x game I've played in the past year has been lacking in one way or another (Stellaris, Endless Space 2, NuMoo). Not to say I haven't enjoyed them, 4x is my favourite genre, but I haven't had a "go to" space game a long time.

Probably just a misunderstanding on my part then, thanks for the information!

I just picked the game up, feel free to add me on steam if you like!

Quick question, I somehow managed to accidentally retire a character and I wasn't sure how it happened. Are there some stations that auto-retire your current character when you liberate them? I was a bit confused by what happened, because I accidentally clicked on a station in the liberation screen and the game immediately sent me on a mission as a different character and when I was done I was on a different station with the new character. My old character shows up as retired.

I'd be willing to join a tourney. Maybe you folks can teach me a thing or two about the game, I am pretty bad at it. :P

This is probably a long shot, but has anyone here had crashing problems with Stellaris in the late game and resolved them? I have been unable to play into the late game since the Banks update. I was hoping the Capek update might fix things for me but it hasn't. I tried finding a solution through the Paradox forum but I was unable to fix things. I don't know if it is the game, my pc, or both.

Thanks! I actually managed to stumble across the game I was looking for again, it is called Dead in Vinland. My memory had failed me, the game is more of a management/survival game than one that is focused on combat, but the combat bit is inspired by DD. http://deadinvinland.com/2017/09/19/fighting-1/

The game I am looking for is still in development.

It's a survival tactics game with vikings that is heavily inspired by Darkest Dungeon. I was reading about it recently but I can't for the life of me remember its name. One of the screenshots I saw showed the combat portion of the game, the bottom half of the screen had skills and such on it and it was very reminiscent of what Darkest Dungeon looks like, but the top half had warriors standing side by side on a grid based combat map sort of thing.

I haven't played all of Paradox's grand strategy games but the ones I have played have not been terrible or shallow on release. They haven't always been stellar, but I have yet to play one that was bad. To each their own I guess. But yeah, buying them at least a couple of years after release is probably the best way to do it, you get more content for much less money.
