DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: The easiest evil embark?

Ok, here's the worldgen information. Paste it into data\init\world_gen.txt, then create a new world with advanced parameters, choosing this world from the list on the right.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And here's a picture to show you precisely where I embarked:

Hopefully I got everything right. Let me know if your world looks nothing like this.

Works fine thanks.

If you want to try it, I've got a site in a sinister biome which might have what you're looking for. It's a site with a couple of the more difficult environmental features, but a pretty low chance of immediate military danger. Key features:

-Non-reanimating.
-Intersecting rivers partition the map into four sections, making wildlife/invaders a bit easier to deal with.
-Relatively benign wildlife. You'll see ogres and harpies occasionally, but it's like 75% barn owls and rabbits. No undead.
-It seems to be a fairly remote site, meaning it will take longer for non-dwarven caravans to reach you, but it will take sieges just as long.
-Instead of grass, you get wormy tendrils and staring eyeballs, which is basically wiggly purple grass.
-Sliver barbs and glumprong trees, as you'd expect in an evil region.
-Creeping ash clouds. They turn your dwarves into thralls (same as husks). By far the hardest most fun feature of the site.
-Normal rain.
-Pretty flat land. Good for building.
-Aquifer. If you use the double slit method detailed on the wiki, it's not too hard to get through it, but it will take time.

Edit: Oh yeah, there's sand, too.

All right I'll give it a try, get some evil experience, then be suicidal and try something supah hard.

Well the problem is not the giant chasm, it is that the bottom is just water. ( I lucky dwarf survived the fall and explored a little )

Down where? To reach lower caverns, you usually need to dig deeper.

No the giant chasm with the water at the bottom, what else am I supposed to do with a chasm? Throw someone down it.

A little off topic, but in the next update you should be able to set up a arena and the dwarfs would come and watch and get happy thoughts.

Is that a suggestion or a fact?

A suggestion, I hope I'm wrong though, that'd be great.

Is there a way to throw a dwarf down there?

Your task is thus simple.

You build steel dwarven battlecruiser fortress which protects the island from enemies.

But it is like 7 by 7 with a mushroom or 2. I love the caverns and all the new enemies and animal tribes and FB. Might restart with such a lame cavern.

Ahhh your hunters do take multiple bones, I guess they didn't take multiple wooden bolts, because 25 is enough vs the 5, so they take more.

Just hit the cavern in my new file yay! But there is a problem, there is 20+ floors of empty space an at the bottom water, there is random little island with some vegetation on it. But that is it, all the gems are stuck on the wall in the middle of the chasm and hardly no enemies are there because there is no land.

I thought dwarves could pack multiple stacks into their quivers?

Maybe, I've only seen them pack 1 pack of wooden bolts, but I rarely check. Would be good to know since they spare bolts around the world would be useful to pick up.

One bone makes 5 bolts, I've never ran out of hunter's bolts with running bones into ammo with craftdwarves ( Just remember to unforbid any that's left around outside to save a bit ). I usually just make totems with skulls to sell to caravans, they're decently valuable for relative lack of effort!

They wont run out of ammo, but every 5 shots they got to run back for more, instead of the 25.

I have a heavy hunting industry and I don't know what to do with the bones and skulls. Someone told me to make bolts but there is a limited amount per and hunters will run out of ammo earlier.

As for my experiences uncommon, but could be more in the rare category for others.
