There is a chance that she is no longer your queen. Check your civilization status screen.

Usually, necromancers and were-creatures will abandon their jobs upon their transformation, so "Queen" may simply be a note under "Previous Experience" on Zefon's resume.

If she is still the queen, which has happened once or twice before, then you will have your own personal army factory. Just hope her mandates aren't for something stupid.

Bummer. She left her position in late winter of year 41 to begin her apprenticeship under Ineth Chant Construct, a dwarf necromancer married to the dwarf vampire Cerol Bustgifts, who had himself ended his apprenticeship the same year, the same season in fact, after being King of a different dwarven civilization. (The two have similar tales.)
His wife was a wanderer, moving from fortress to fortress, murdering a few dwarves, and then fleeing after arousing suspicion.
They had 6 children before going different paths, (In the 11 years before Cerol became a vampire) only two of which have survived to present (130) Their eldest son, Reg Bodicefate (Born year 2) is also a Necromancer, apprenticed 9 years after his father (year 50) to a different master. The second surviving son is unremarkable, aside from living upwards of 120 years without some divine intervention.

Zefon herself has no family.

Her diety, "Zimun" is a dwarven god associated with disease, death, and murder. Often depicted as a skeletal male dwarf, he has recieved the worship of 4 necromancers, as well as 3 more recent, aspiring necromancers, 2 of which came from Evanbolts, a dwarven fortress. (However one of these died before they could reach immortality)

Legends mode kicks ass, this is a pretty decent tale.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Just found an interesting bit on an artifact that was just made. Apparently my Queen shall be a necromancer when she comes!
I've heard this kind of thing is common, but it's never happened to me before. I'll check her out in Legends if/when the fortress falls.

Will she be dangerous, or can she go about as Monarch without effecting my fortress too much?

M'kay, the fire died out pretty quickly, thankfully, and I was able to kill it easy. Thanks, guys. Gotten through four FBs now on this fortress and none have resulted in too much Fun.

My adventurer whom I've been grinding for a while on animals was just awoken from his sleep by two groups. One of bogeymen, and later one of dingo men. The human dispatched both groups with ease, and then promptly resumed his nap on top of their dead bodies.

Edit: He was covered in quite a lot of blood, as well.

Edit2: Second bogeyman ambush in a row. This behavior is becoming a regular thing. I think I shall not rest until I have a fresh enemy corpse to sleep on, from now on.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: How to keep Dwarfs out of caverns?
« on: November 15, 2013, 07:13:04 pm »
Turns out I had set dwarfs to collect used ammo, forgetting my marksdwarfs hunt in the caverns. I'll set the fishing zones as well, haven't played in a while and forgot to do that.

Also working on pacifying the caverns. I had been kinda clearing the pillars out, but I'll do it strategically for once, and place traps further out from my entrance for the monsters.

I'll also set up a room for my second squad of swordsdwarfs to train down there, just in case.

Thanks guys!

I want to keep it open, I just don't want my dwarfs to wander carelessly and get killed in them.

Just got sieged by goblins, two squads from the same direction, plus 10 or so trolls. Charged into the battle with 32 melee dwarves, and 10 marksdwarves, almost all unarmored. Only one casualty, a marksdwarf who tried to punch the goblins to death. I like to think he was reincarnated in the child that was born moments after his death. No one else was hurt save the 3 animals that died.

All in all a good day.

Ah, yes, a classic large cave-in. Let me stand on this safe side and quickly get back so I don't break my everything and spend the next year in the hospital.

...Said no Miner ever.

I like crossbowdwarves, but I never really figured out how to train them
you need an archery range

Well I know that, but what's a good way to set one up? The ones I've set up in the past don't seem to train them all too well.

Third when I've got a lot of red guys roaming around I make them marksdwarfs. Crossbows are my favorite weapons and mature forts of mine are usually at least one third crossbowdwarfs.

I like crossbowdwarves, but I never really figured out how to train them. Is enabling hunting on them good enough? (My best marksdwarf is my mayor/crossbow-squad captain, who basically hunts non-stop.) If I put them in a danger room, will it do anything for them crossbow-wise, or will it just train their hammerdwarf skill?
