Every adventure ever. Ever.

Modding help? OK, just open up "(dwarf fortress directory)\data\save\(name of Amberjewel's region)\raw\creature_standard.txt"
Scroll down to the [CREATURE:YETI] entry, and add [PET] and [TRAINABLE] somewhere. It shouldn't matter, I don't think, as long as it's somewhere in that entry.
Once that's done, restart DF and train us some yeti!
Also, please assign The Mad One a pet yeti. Preferably a yeti with armour. That would be epic.

Btw, Welcome to B12 one of humanity's last best beacons of insanity. :D
FIFY.
There's way too many crazies in the world for us to be one of the last beacons of insanity.
Look at politics.
Politicians don't count. Our insanity is too intellectual for them.

As for a related comment as to not spark a complete derail... um...

DF General Discussion / Re: Dwarf Fortress, and its effect on your psyche.

I have dreamed DF dreams before, but I think the most interesting thing DF has done is make me not care about losing.
Once, if I lost a game or argument, or was proven wrong about anything, or did/said something stupid, I would be very upset or angry.
But now? I don't care. Losing is Fun!

I think we think differently :P
I don't think so.

There are no words.
Well, except for "That finale was friggin' awesome!"
And maybe a little "Two and a half million ☼!? ARMOK'S CANDY BALLS."
Along with some "More kids making musical instruments? Awesome."
Then the "The Mad One? Baron!? Hellooo flute mandates!"

And yes. Yetis and flutes.

Humans are humans aspirants and thinkers, dwarves are dwarves industry and avarice, and elves are pansies cannibals and morality. Forgotten beasts are forgotten beasts horror, legend and mystery. It may be detailed - absurdly so - but none have the character that Tolkien's books have[citation needed]. DF as a game or simulator has a buttload of character...
I was trying to say that although individual DF worlds are unique, they're fundamentally the same, with everything yanked out of the raws.
And where do the raws come from?
I think you'll find there's more thought put into this than you'd first ever imagine.

Tolkien's world was completely thought-through, and everything had a purpose and story behind it.
~Dwarf Fortress
...

I'm going to stop talking now.

should be up relative soon (it takes a bit to write a good narrative). if you want it ASAP, i can drop it and just stick to the facts.
I would be heartbroken if you left out the narrative...

Why, why copper?!
We have both tetrahedrite and cassiterite ores, so bronze just as accessible as that copper, given that we make it from ore directly.

Yeah... i meant bronze... the armor is assigned properly, i just keep replacing the words in my reports...

Should be fixed
Pheww... I feel easier now.
When I left the fort, there were fortress wealth above 1 megabucks. I'd expect some sieges and ambushes soon... So maybe you should reconsider banning adamantine armor?
Candy armour should be created specifically for important military dwarves. (not important as in 'noble' important, but as in 'legendary swordsdwarf')

And about the yetis, I'll take a look at the savefile when you're finished, and see if I can upload a fixed version.
I'll be disappointed if we can't get war yetis, but it's not the end of the world... yet...

DF is based off other fantasy works, partly The Hobbit and other Tolkien nonsense. Tolkien's work was based off existing fantasy, myths and legends. Other books and films have been based of Tolkien's work, set in their respective fantasy worlds. DF is set in not one, but a hundred - a thousand - a million separate worlds that all have unique stories within them. But DF follows a set script. Very little is procedural. Humans are humans, dwarves are dwarves and elves are pansies. Forgotten beasts are forgotten beasts. It may be detailed - absurdly so - but none have the character that Tolkien's books have. DF as a game or simulator has a buttload of character...

What was I saying again? Oh, right. The stories are similar because fantasy stories are fantasy stories. The Hobbit's story could occur in DF because DF is supposed to simulate a fantasy world, and its stories. The Hobbit was set in a fantasy world. It's a fantasy story, and I'm pretty sure I'm repeating myself.

TL;DR: The Hobbit's story could happen in DF because it's a fantasy story and DF is supposed to simulate those.
