does anyone know if settlements with garrisons can auto defend themselves?

im all the way across the map, i do not believe i can make it back to homebase in time.

i think it's a bit too early for that, tbh. give it a couple patches, let them flesh out the base game first. at the very least i want to see the factions fight each other.

Yeah, the devs love what theyre doing, theyre working hard, they listen to their community and if any suggestions line up with their vision they'll acknowledge it and add it.
This is an example of a small indie group making a pet project that is done right and i happily support that.

the starting makarov is surprisingly decent at range; the low muzzle velocity hurts its range but has good accuracy (i know automatics have some spread in the game so far but i don't know if handguns have any natural spread yet) and with some practice you can ping away at enemies from a comfortable distance. upgrade to a better pistol or grab a cheapo smg early; it'll pay off and stay in 9mm until you build a decent buffer, 9mm mags are universal and cheap.
more importantly tho, invest in your men. get your commanding up and leadership up and you're good, then fill your spots with cheap volunteers. improve them when they level up. they will prove a match for the beginner looters and you'll gradually rack up some decent dosh.

(because bushes don't give cover despite acting like a block, currently)

i coulda sworn i saw a bush stop a bullet but there could have been a stump near it. well, it might not stop bullets but it does stop ai pathfinding, lol.

I suppose its cuz i prefer the hardcore thing of earning an actual gun and picking up an akm from a dead marauder would make it too easy, unless they create quality levels and universally make looted weapons suck. Like a looted ak would perform like a mid quality smg.

Its a little annoying but understandable from a gameplay perspective, youd be rolling in valuable rifles and money would quickly become too easy.

the most money efficient gun ive found so far is the rpd-97 smg. it uses the same cheap 9mm mags as handguns and it performs almost as good as an assault rifle.

i bet they're going to do a second pass through the guns for balance again, i feel like an akm should be as cheap as any smg, it should hit hard but have generally lower muzzle velocity.

i already have a small protip for everyone:

if you don't reload your start of combat magazine in your gun, that will replenish after battle. if you reload, that's when it removes the magazine from your inventory.

i can already predict Jagged Alliance style massive arsenal mods.

i decided this game might be worth conversing about.

this game is an incredible mixture of Arma and Mount'n'Blade. you are tasked with controlling the region from the various fighting factions and you start with only a makarov and 10 men, all rookies.
the map lets you control your squads through a rts style waypoint system and you can mix it up yourself but beware! it's fairly hardcore, you can get downed easy out of cover and there's bullet drop to worry about.
also your ammo doesnt come back after each fight; you have to buy new mags/clips/whatever at nearby settlements

it's still in early development but the potential for the game is incredible.

i finally got a rpd-97 smg; so efficient, it feels like an assault rifle but uses the cheap 9mm mags.

i finally got my leadership and commanding up to 4 and i can lead 6 fireteams into combat now. 4 are merc vets, 1 is grenadier vets and we recently signed on some volunteers.

the bandit city is 73! strong but once we get our newbies up to snuff and get me some decent armor we will claim it.

it'll be our heaven and our hell. Outer Heaven. what better place for us than this?

I rallied my men and we took cover in a stand of trees. 21 of us in all. 40 of them. Looters and marauders. We spread out using trees and small boulders as cover. I had just hired these volunteers and only one squad was trained to militia standards.

But through sheer luck, good positioning, and firepower, we won. We lost 6 guys but their sacrifice was not in vain.

8 days away. Feeling hyped, but not like overhyped. I mean, im hyped for the things ive seen in the more recent trailers, not for mechanics we've not seen yet or imagining what is/could be. I want layered armor systems and that combat, it looks pretty pimping.
